It was on the new today, Columbus police in unmarked crusers (not undercover, just unmarked) lined up in the right 2 lanes on the freeway 4 cars deep (8 cars) and drove at a constant 65mph. Any car passing them in the fast lane was pulled over and given tickets for speeding. News said a total of 20-25 tickets were given in total.

Wow, that's horrible that the police are turning to this. It's almost impossible to drive 65 on the freeways in Columbus. Someone is going to rearend someone going 70 or 75 because they're going with traffic and when they see the police trap they'll slam on the breaks and cause a huge accident. If anyone has been in wall to wall traffic going 80 mph and the person in front of you hits the breaks hard you know there isnt much time to react.
What's next? Putting speed sensors in our cars that relay the speed to the state highway patrols office. Then they'll send the ticket in the mail as soon as you hit 65.1 mph.

I read somewhere that they're working on that for future OBD systems.

I was driving back home on the 10 in Cali when all of a sudden 16+ motorcycle cops swarmed me. There was a cop killed a few days earlier and all of them had just entered the freeway from the cemetary. I just about crapped my pants cause all of a sudden there's cops EVERYWHERE that weren't there a second ago. Once they all passed me they just continued on.

Yeah, the speed limits in the US are pretty ridiculous for the most part (on the Interstate). Speed itself is not dangerous, a difference in speed is dangerous. A person doing 40 mph when traffic flow is 70 mph poses just as much danger as a person doing 100 mph in the same situation. I just wish we could convince our legislators of that.
Speed limits really have very little to do with safety they are mostly just another form of tax. They produce revenue for cities, counties, and states.
