New Car & Driver: Mustang, Vette, Carrera

So I was looking at the new Car & Driver..

The C6 owned the new Carrera :D Faster, handles better, and its cheaper.

BUT, the thing that I did not understand, was their article on the new Mustang GT.

They compared it against the GTO, the G35, and one other car.
They said the new MGT was FASTER than the GTO! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? They ran a 13.8 with it! Plus, the new Mustang GT weighs in at OVER 3500 lbs!!!! Then the G35 was right in the GTO's heels...

That doesn't seem right.

The new Mustang and the GTO should be equal, and if not, the GTO should edge out the Mustang by a tenth or two.

You never know, Ford could be paying a little to Motor Trend to push that. Don't believe everything you read! Look at track results across sites instead. I cancelled my Motor Trend subscription for that very reason.

Yes. He didn't specify if it's the LS1 GTO or the LS2 GTO.

Stang - solid diff <---good for drags

Car and Driver is biased, they dislike GM and most all Domestic cars. They USUALLY tend to pull toward the exotics.

actually the C6 only got a 9 on "on road handling" where as the porsche got a 10.

race track handling was equal.

the powertrain totals were equal, but the C6 did come out ahead in the power aspect.

obviously the c6 is the better car for the money.

It also beat it in every acceleration test, 0-30, 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile...
I think it got .98 Gs ... supposedly the 2005 viper gets 1.15 :eek:

But anyway, the vette only won by 1 point. But the porsche is also like 30K more.


Oh, and those new GT's are friggin quick, dont underestimate them.
