  • too many cars?

For some reason we got a letter today from our insurance company saying that in the past 18 months we have added and removed the limit of cars the policy allows for that 18 period and no other cars will be added to my policy in the next 12 months. This sounds like bs, i mean who the hell turns down buisness. Im gonna call them tomorrow about this cause there is no way in hell i can go 12 months without finding some other car to play with and im not gonna start 2 different policies or a new one

Actually, you need to check your state laws. I had a friend in Florida that bought and sold cars on auction. He could only legally buy/sell X cars per year. If he went over there was something about having to declare it as a business, blah blah.

I bet your insurance company is thinking the same thing.

Go back and READ his post. He doesn't have 8 cars. He's bought, sold, and had insurance on too many cars in 18 months.

in michigan if you sell more than 12 vehicles a year you are considered an auto dealer.

You are bumping up against a limitation to keep business/inventory cars from being insured as personal cars.

Talk with your agent or shop around. I'd think someone would be happy to insure you, as a business or personal.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

in wisconsin i think if you sell more than 5 cars you need a dealers license.
