• blew a speaker

a few days ago i went out to drive my car to the gym. it had been sitting there for about 36 hours in the cold. i turn it on, and it dies after a few seconds. i try a few more times. the third time i turn on the car, the stereo magically had turned itself on to full blast and it took a few seconds before i could turn it off. damn it was loud. but just recently i turned it back on and it sounds like a speaker is missing. :-(

    so very gay.

you should be thankfull its just a stock speaker, last time i blew a speaker it was a RF power HX2 which is like a $400 speaker :(

im going to figure out what speaker it was and replace it. if you asked me, the stock speakers are great and i'm never going to buy an amp or sub. my stock 6.5"-er is fine. really loud on the inside when cranked up. i guess im just lucky that the song that was playing wasnt on a heavy bass part or id be deaf right now.

is there any other possible damage that might have happened other than the speaker needing to be replaced?

PS sorry this is in the wrong section but i didnt realize i would get into much details about the audio.

haha I blew a speaker a few months ago. I disconnected the exaust at the cat and it was really loud. on my way back from the track (2 hour drive) I decided I wanted to listen to the radio. I had to turn it up so loud to hear it I blew a speaker. when I finally got home I steped out the car and I was really dizzy and walked like a drunk and my head was kinda numb

If you replace one speaker, replace the same one on the other side. Or else it will sound weird.

            CORRECTION

there is no blown speaker!

in my haste to turn off the music i turned the little lever on the outside of the volume wheel. i had the fade all to the left and so no music was coming from the right side.

Glad you didn't blow a speaker. It would be expensive to replace.
