  • Anyone get a letter from their childhood self?

I just got a letter today written 10 years ago. Must have been 7th grade. It was written in beautiful cursive pencil

    Dear Myself,

In 10 years you should be recieving this letter. I wanted to write to you about what I thought my life would be like as an independent person.

At first I will have graduated high school. One of the colleges I applied to will accept me and I will move into an apartment by myself near campus. THere I'll get my degree in whatever field I choose. During my studies I'll have to get a job to support myself, possibly at a supermarket.

When I'm not paying my bills and studying at college, I'll meet new friends and do leisurely things around town. My home will include a TV, Furniture, phone, washer and dryer etc.

I dont want to have a family during this time, too distracting. After college I'll get a higher paying job and upgrade my home. I'll make sure to visit my my Mom/Dad here and there. It will be an exciting time.

    Best, Wishes

    Dear Myself,

10 years from now (today), you will have all new thoughts. You will be thinking to yourself about how time is just ticking away and the moments just make up a dull day. You wont have a job and you will fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way. Just hanging out in your home town just messing around. Waiting for someone to provide you the way.

You'll be tired of lying around home all day watching the sunshine and rainy days. You'll still be young and life will be long and you'll just kick back and relax today. But one day you'll find, many years have gone behind you. No one is going to tell you when to run, you don't want to miss the starting gun.

One day you will run so far to catch up with that sinking sun. Racing around but you'll come up behind you again. The sun will stay the same except you'll be older. And shorter of breath and one day closer to death.

Sitting at home while every year is getting shorter, never seeming to find the time. Trying to make plans that seem to never get started or just writing pages of scribbled lines. Hanging on in a quiet desperation, realizing time is gone, the day is over, just thought you'd like to read this in a meaningful way.

    Best of luck

    Myself
