I bought my six off a client of mine... considering the money I put in it, yeah, I could have bought an 8, but the insurance would still have been rape. Gas mileage and insurance are real pointers towards the six, and with a few upgrades, it'll be pretty fast - it won't be as fast as an 8, but sometimes "fast enough" is good enough for me, eh?

Insurance and cost, plus I got a brand new car so it wasn't too bad of a deal. Honestly, the car I drove before my Camaro was a '98 Malibu, so I probably wasn't ready for the power of a V8 anyway. Now I think I am though, after two years of being in many situations with a fairly quick car, especially after racing it. You can't just throw an inexperienced kid behind the wheel of a rear-drive V8 and expect nothing bad to happen unless he is an exception and drives like a grandma.

Don't get caught up in the p*nis envy stuff... there will ALWAYS BE SOMEONE FASTER no matter what you own. Keep modding and learn something about cars. You'll get the most power with "big" power adders, not the measely little ones.

I had a 79 T-bird w/351W in it. I was looking for a good Mustang II notchback to drop the engine in & hop the bytch up. All the donors I could find wanted more $$$$ than was worth it. Then I happened upon my 3yr & running project for $150 & sold the T-bird. Just had a blown head gasket, and no routine maint. for 3yrs  . I think I'm close to $3k in the whole project now. Not too bad ;)

So, I passed up a windsor for 3 6cylders so far, and have mostly loved it.

                Insurance, insurance, insurance.

Honestly, i'd save that $1500 to put twards a v8 down the road some day, If your not satisfied w/ your v6 (i know i wasnt, it was a nice car, but not fast by anymeans) dont throw tons of money into it, save for a car you'll be really happy w/.

I got it as a fun commuter, low cost, lowish insurance, uses regular gas.

I got my old camaro when I was 16 and was going to be my second car. 3 years ago it was hard to find any cool car around 5-6k. I went to go look at some eclipse that was horrible, had flood damage then I saw a beautiful red '96 camaro with nice wheels and a SS hood on the other side of the lot. I knew nothing about cars really, I just knew that it looked nice and for 6k I was buying it. I kept it for 3 years until I wrecked it last month. You really can't beat the look of some of the 6s out there. A lot of them look nicer than some of the v8s I see on the road. And they're really not that much slower than a v8, of course the LS1 is a different story, but a lot of stock LT1s aren't really that much quicker.

I didn't get my V6 to go out and beat a V8s. I got it because it is my fav car in the world (be a 6 or 8). It was cheap, gets looks, sounds good, and I wanted a middle of the road car to learn to drive stick before I got in a bigger V8. Eventually I will get a Trans am, but I will never sell my red six shooter and I plan to drop a 502 in it when I finish graduate school. THEN she will get her revenge on all those V8s, LOL.

i got my firebird because it's a beautiful t-top, style-havin ride! now i got these fat tires on it, and b/c of my wrecks, my body is perfect and so is my paint. It's the nicest car anyone in my family has ever had, and I just want to make it unique. I am not really into the dick measuring i'm faster than you bs, but i do want to start spraying a 100 shot because that would be so much fun! i like to go fast, but the practical side of nitrous is just brilliant too! you might look into a bottle for your $1500.

Insurance is high (high on this 6 also so u know the 8 is even HIGHER than that) plus this car i have is the only one i found in my price range that wasnt all beat to hell (everything was stock), had hardly any blemishes on the outside, and had very low miles (19000 on a 98 i bought in 03). It was the perfect deal so i jumped on it of course. I really did want a V8 but my payments would be higher as well as insurance and right now I am trying to save.
