going to holler at Best Buy in a couple hrs

  • going to holler at Best Buy in a couple hrs

    paid 2,100 for laptop, less than a year old.
    hard drive dies, they replace it under warranty, 5 minutes after it's home, dies again. Take it back, they " expediate " the shipping (takes 3 weeks instead of 4)
    this time they replaced the motherboard and the hard drive
    well guess what
    hard drive is bad again
    this will be the 4th hard drive this thing has gone through
    I want a new laptop
    I don't shell out 2,000 dollars for a big paperweight. I need this thing for school and work. Can't afford to be without it. Not only that I am paying $50 a month to have internet that I can't use.
    If I wanted to blow 2 grand on something frivolous I would have bought a turbo or something
    geez
    so hopefully I can just get another laptop off the shelf, and the heck with this one. We'll see
    any advice before I talk to them?
    I already have the feeling I will have to talk to at least the district manager before I can see anything remotely resembling an outcome I will see as satisfactory.

    i hate dealing with best buy on returns. all i can say is good luck, but you definatley have a good reason why you want a different model.

      yeah, I dont even care if its a different model, I just want one that is not going to fry on me!!
      most of the time it isnt even shipped around
      I could understand if I was banging it around or something, but it is either sitting on a table, or when it is carried I have a real nice case for it.
      I just want to be able to have a computer... that I paid good money for
      Also when they put the new hd in, they deleted a bunch of stuff that I need (such as my audio drivers, and my wireless internet card software) all stuff that was on it originally, but not anymore. Then the dang thing wouldnt even play dvd's! said the resolution was too high
      I even turned it down to 256 colors and 800x600 and it was still saying it was too high
      so yeah
      I'm tired of games
      either give me my 2,100 back and let me buy something else, or give me a new laptop cuz whatever they are trying to do isnt working

        That's why I like going to FRY's Electronics. Best Buy is not really the best. Especially on customer service.

            if that model is no longer avaiable I belive they must give you a model for the same amount of money you paied. that means you get to trade for last years $3500 model. :D

              I am honestly not trying to get a better deal or anything (if I do then awesome but not what I am going for)
              all I want is an equal computer that works
              it was pretty nice
              pentium 4
              2.9 ghz
              512mb ram
              15.4 widescreen monitor
              good graphics as far as I could tell
              I liked it
              has anybody had a successful return to Best Buy after the first 90 days?
              it might be an HP issue

                i think best buy has a rule that if something breaks and they send it out more than 2 or 3 times to get it fixed, they will replace it. i'm pretty sure they should replace your laptop if its been sent out to get fixed a couple times.

                  its been in the shop a total of 3 times
                  this will be the 4th
                  this will be the 3rd time for this specific issue
                  AND everytime they change the hard drive the ticket says like $450 to $550
                  the motherboard and hd issues costs over $800
                  so they have sunk some money into this thing for sure

                    Frys sells more defective products than any other company I've ever shopped at.

                    LD - I say don't take no for an answer. I've gotten away with returning things at Best Buy that have their standard 1 month warrenty after 4 months. It helped that the boss was a good looking girl who was my age, but that's besides the point ;) It all depends on who you talk to.
                    Tell them the situation, that half the damn components in the computer have been replaced and it still messes up so you would like a new one. And explain to them that you can't spend your time without the computer. Hopefully you will talk to somebody who has some power to do something about it.

                          I worked at circuit city for along time. Not that I know best buy's policy but they should return it.

                          Just a side thought if your leaving it plugged in, is it in a surge protector? (not a cheap $5 dollar one from walmart but a really good surge protector? Circuit city did a test like years ago when I worked there. That surges equivalent to tuning on/off light switch on same breaker can shorten electronics life by 50% Plus if you happen to not have the best wiring or overloaded circuits, my guess is it could even shorten the life quicker. Just a thought. Of coarse don't tell best buy about that though.
