do you guys ever get fed up with spending all of your money on mods?
ive been thinking lately and as i work fast food, all of my money goes into my car. i either save up for mods, or buy mods. i dont buy movies, video games or cd's. so im realy looking into stopping the modding for now. im 17 and i want some money saved up for when i graduate. not counting the benelli nova 12 gauge im about to buy.(first big purchase not car related) ive been totaling up my receipts and ive spent $2551.48 on my car in mods. not counting when it was in the shop/maintenance and all that. ive owned my car for one year this month. how messed up is that? i really want a sportbike. and im pretty sure i want to pay off my car and take out a loan on a 1998 ^ suzuki katana 750. and i really dont want to spend any more money for mods. all my money into it and i go into autoclass and catch **** all day long from people driving neons. luckily for me, the ladies are hella into the car. ;)
but i just wanted to know if anyone else has felt like this? sorrry for the long post

Well first of all, that was pretty tough for me to understand. You should have learned to write properly way before you started modding.

Yes you are going to want some money when you graduate. If I were you, I would hold off on modding and start saving. You work for fast-food, you need to do some serious saving, and quick. Or you can just keep modding and continue to have lots of pleasure with your car. Its all up to you to decide which path to choose. Like I said, if it was me, I'd be saving up some cash.

Punctuation, capitalization, and spelling may help.

As for the modding, that all really depends on your interests. I have a TON of interests, which keeps me busy most of the time, but they are usually free things anyway. I really don't want to spend money on worthless s***, like a bunch of movies, or some large TV, or stereo equipment, things like that. Rather have my car(s) running, and have the Fbird ready for the track at the end of next year.

movies + video games are a big waste imo....

I men there are some select few but for the most part I haven't bought a video game, or video game system in like 5 years, I think I bought one PS1 classic, thats about it.

BUT, luckily I have had cool girlfriends and they all bought me stuff including my PS2, all the GTAs, and GT4s

Movies are a waste, but then again I probalby see more movies then anyone here, since I see them free.

I admit there is other stuff I woudl rather spend my money on, I never stop spending money on my car I just spend less and less each time. Then I eventually go back to modding.

As for my car that I said I was going to keep "stock" and really not mod much, and focus on a new car down the road...

I have done.

LSD
T-top conversion
Zr1s, w/275s
tail light conversion
clear corners
MSD wires
autolite plugs
FRA
shaved lid
homemade smooth bellows
Cutout
2 tranny mounts
spare wheels for drag racing
fan switch
SS power steering cooler
poly endlinks
HPtuners
Clutch Master

ANNNND.... in the next week or so...

rear end swap 3.42s
LS1 driveshaft replacement
poly torque arm bushing
spec II clutch
new Slave
hydraulic clutch bleed
brake flush/bleed
Brake job pads/rotors all 4 corners...

At least I enjoy it, and to be honest thinking about my car all summer is only thing that kept me sane with all my issues.

yes... the modding urge is part of the reason why I just sold it. I loved the car, loved every minute of planning and dreaming up the mods..... I was getting way too into it. I had a list of things I was going to do over the next year.... totalled somewhere around $2500.... and thats conservative... things I KNEW I would buy... not just want.

Problem is, I have too many big money interests.... Ive spent about $8-10k on 'hobbies' over the last 12 months.

I swapped the car and put that $2500 into the Cobra. She is staying stock.......

Just wait until you have a house you have to pay for, pay the taxes on, insure, repair, improve & maintain. Then start to pay to electrify, heat/cool it, and have water, sewer, & garbage services to it. Then get married, buy food, clothes, furniture, healthcare, dental care, glass & contacts & other things that life brings.

After all that, see how important mods to your car are. If they're still imporant (which to me, building a hell of a trail truck was), do what I did. Start a business, and work your *** off to pay for it :D

Why buy a house? Or get married for that matter?

If you are real serious about modding, then you find ways to cut corners on other parts of your life, trading one thing for another. I have no desire to own a house at this time. A nice studio apartment will do me nicely.

Still keeping my old rear end.

If I decide to sell my rear end, $100-150.

Sooo... I paid $20, or made money to go with a 3.42s with less mileage on the rear then my current rearened.

thats cheaper then the shipping on a set of 4.10s, yet alone the cost of 4.10s and install.

aparmtent, you flush money down toilet.

House, each payment you make you own more of your house, so when you sell it, you get all the money you paid for it back.

example...
I am 23 if I had spent all the money I spent on rent alone on apartments since I ahve been living on them towards a house... I woudl own $24,520 more of my house.

Instead I gave $24,520 to ****ty people that I wasn't the most happy at all times living at their places.

$1000+ a month on a decent house in this city.
$300 a month on a studio that fits me perfectly

Utilities are cheaper, maintenence is covered by the landlord. I had a double I lived in, and it was nice, but too much upkeep, and I don't need all that room. All I need is a bed (futon), a TV, cable internet, and a place for my TV. Any more than that right now is simply absurd, and I am a year older than you. I got a friend right now in a studio aparment that has a very nice setup. He has just enough room for him, and has a ton of electronics, including a 53" TV up there.

I refuse to move out of this community for a home. Location is key, and I cannot afford a house here on my own.
