Traded the 'bird

after weeks of debating and test driving, I swapped the 'bird in last night.

new car: '01 SVT Cobra. 22k miles

I was on my way to talk final numbers on a pro-charged 2001 GT. passed this on the way, turned around and stopped and talked to the salesman. Told them where I was headed and he asked if he could beat the price if I would buy this one instead (they are competing dealerships about 1 mile apart)

sticker price was $19,995. they had it at their lot about 4 months ago, shipped it to one of their other dealerships, just got it back last Friday. Wanted to sell it before winter.

Final deal was $17,300 for the Cobra, $5,7XX for the bird, 2 free tank refills of Premium gas, lifetime oil changes and state inspections, and a good deal on a C5 in two years. I actually do have the dealers sig beside hand written "......and a good deal on a C5 in two years" next to all the numbers we finally agreed on.

Sounds like you made out well. I would much rather pick up a Cobra than a modified GT. I'm not too sure what "good deal" on a C5 means, but I guess if you are in the market for a vette in 2 years it couldn't hurt.

eh... its slower than the WS6 and the procharged GT I test drove. The two tone leather seats are nice though.......
