  • Cisco CCNA?

    Anyone cisco certified?
I have 3 weeks to take and pass the CCNA.
I have been thorugh the cisco academy training, but this was for the 607 version of the test and they have since changed to the 801.

Anyone taken either of the test the new or old?

    Suggestions, good books?

    Thanks

The new test goes more in depth with the routing protocols from what I understand and weigh a lot more heavily on OSPF and IGRP.

I just grabbed 3 cisco routers out of our inventory and in the process of setting up a router stack to play with, but still am worried about what the new test contains!

A+ is a good place to start to get you into the certification world.

as far as getting youa job with A+ a lot of entry level repair tech jobs require it.

Depends on where you want to go, but overall yes I think its worthwhile, but a lot of people will tell you its useless, it was required for my previous postion with this company!

heh heh. That's funny. Back when I was in the CCNA class, the test version was like 605. IGRP is easy, just play around with it a little. Don't skimp on switches either. They're just as easy as routers, and you need to know then as well. Most commands are the same, but there are some unique commands that you need to know for them. Also, what series routers and switches do they have you guys use now? It's been awhile since I was in that class- the most recent thing we (my shop and I) did was set up a complete networking infastructure in a newly updated building for the Air Force. New fiber, copper, set up all the runs and drops, telephones, servers, switches, you name it, we did it. A lot of work, but it was also a lot of fun. Ask me any questions that you may have, I'd be more than happy to help you out if I can
