all i got is engine casting numbers?

ok if i got engine casting numbers where can i find out what cars the engine is in? i know the numbers are 3849852 its a chevy moter from 56-66 i think and its a 283. i am asking cause i wanna put this in my 84 impala. i wanted a v8 thats not to bad on gas but will get the car moving. right now its got a 229 v6 and that thing is a pooch so just wondering? can someone help me?

They put SBCs in everything, Whye does it matter what car it came out of? And in memory serves, I think the dimensions were all the same. So if you wanted to make it a 350, you just need the crank from a 350.

im trying to use this engine in a 1984 impala. they didn't put this engine in that car and if i wanna look for parts i wanna make it easier. can you feel me?
