  • Does anyone here remember CARtoons magazine?

I just received my custom-made Firebird mouse pad from baddbuick off of eBay:

It is so freakin' awesome! It's almost too good looking to use.

The artwork reminded me of CARtoons. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Most of you guys might be too young to remember CARtoons magazine. It was a specialty magazine published in the late 70's to 80's and like its name implied, it was all about Cars in caricature.

I found a few of those old magazines showing cars with huge smoking steamroller tires, engine popping out of the hood, and flames blowing out of the exhausts.

It's too bad they don't make magazines like that any more.

For anyone who doesn't know what CARtoons looked like, the artwork is very similar to the ones found on this website:

Wow, talk about a blast from the past. Krass & Bernie were the main characters souping up anything that breathed through 8 cylinders. I actually have a few stashed in a box next to The Freak Brothers Collection I own.

Did you know that same CARtoons artist, George Trosley, also contributed to Hustler magazine? His work can be found in Hustler Humor, funnier than Mad magazine IMO.

Trosley and Shawn Kerri were my favorite artists in the magazine. It's great to hear that Trosley is still drawing after all these years. I wonder what ever happened to Kerri and Steve Austin?
