  • my first car show

well took my car to it's first car show and also my first car show this past saturday...the WC Handy Festival Car Show in Florence, AL. almost didn't go because one of my friends entered it last year and i was talking to him about it and he told me it was a really difficult show and that i'd get slaughtered. i didn't really care because i just wanted to go and have some fun. so i get my engine detailed that day and that night i start work on cleaning the interior. i get done with that at about midnight then go to bed. that whole time i thought that the show was a great idea and would be a good experience and a good start for me at least.

i wake up the next morning and start cleaning, polishing, and waxing it and about mid-way through it i started having doubts about it and thought what was the point in me going...it would just be a waste of $20 for the entrance fee. but after we finally got done with the car i decided that it would be ashame not to show it after all that work.

so i change clothes and we head out to the car show. we get there and there are only like 3 spaces left so i showed up just in time and grab one. my dad and i set up our chairs and i pop the hood and start to clean up and make sure everything is as pristine as it possibly can be. so i get done cleaning and as i leave the judges walk up to my car and start checkin it out. i leave and let them work then, after checking out some really nice camaros, firebirds, corvettes, and the like (even the tuners... ). came back and chilled, got a good little tan, and talked to some people.

well awards time comes along and i really went into this with the mindset that i would get to see some awesome cars and get some ideas for mine maybe and it would be great time for me and my dad to spend together. so they get to my class and start calling off names. tie for first (my name not called)...tie for second (again my name not called)...tie for third...at this point i'm about to get ready to leave (they call my name). i was really suprised and so happy. i couldn't believe it. just goes to show you never know what will happen.

so now i am planning on definitely fixing my car up some more for future shows. turned out to be a great time with my dad and some friends and had suprising results. i even got the $20 entrance fee back...i got won a door prize that was worth about that much so i pretty much broke dead even so it all worked out. its safe to say that that was my first and not my last car show!

Neat. I've been thinking about shows as well, but i'm pretty sure i wouldn't do to good with a primer hood. But hey, it adds character... (thats what we'll call it. ;) )

That's great  3rd place for your first show. It's all about having fun and meeting new people and getting sunburned :D You don't have to have the biggest engine or the most mods to win shows. It's all about haveing a very clean detailed car.I been showing for 4 years now just about every weekend in the summer. It's alot of fun and very addicting also.
