Thats not a long day. This was my "long" day last wed, to fri. I'm deployed to bagdad right now. I got up at like 11am wed, the 13, to take care of some busness before i had to go out on patrol at 3am the next morning. 3am thursday morning rolls around we go out on patrof for 8 hours in sadir city. Our replacements were 20 mins late, so we didnt begin our trip home until 1120am. On the way back to base, a bomb explosed on a bridge, right over the last truck of our convoy. It turns the truck to swiss cheese. I have to pull one of my friends out of the truck thats missing half of his left leg and whos left arm is barely hanging on by the muscles on the top of his shoulder. We try to stop the bleeding as best we can and rush him to the nearest aid station. The rest of us stay behind to toe the totalled truck and meet them at the aid staition. I have to ride in the truck thats just been blown up so that the driver is not alone. The inside is covered in my friends blood. Ive got his blood all over my hands and thats all i can smell. We rush to the aid station to find out that he died in route. Hes the third from my platton in the last 2 months. We are at the aid station for another hour or two, while they get the trucks washed out. They return w/ the trucks and we drive back to our base camp. Upon our return, we download the trucks. Then we are met and briefed by the chaplin, offering us his prayers. I spend the rest of the afternoon sorting out my friends stuff, getting it ready to send home. At 9 pm thursday, we get done sorting his stuff, then have to go clean his vest he was wearing in the explosion, so they can examine it and see how much it helped. We get done w/ that at 11pm. Finally we go eat at midnight, and come back. I finally get to lay down at about 1am, friday morning. That was the worst 38 hour day of my life.

hehe I know my day is not the worst ever, reason why.
When I woke up and went to work, I didn't have to think, hmm... I could die today like, cops, fireman, and troops.
but for the average run of the mill job, It was the long day. And I am not upset, actually a little happy, I love being hourly and calculating how much money I just made, and I did get alot of work accomplished. Plus my coworkers and boss are fun to work with.
