i eat everything i can get my hands on. your friend was probably making some kind of meal replacement shake, like protein or a weight gainer.

here's the newest fitness program with guaranteed results: eat right, exercise more

      crazy huh?

make sure you are getting your RDAs, taking at least a multivitamin, and laying off excessively sugary items (yes, like most cereals, soda, etc) and you will be fine. results, like relapses, take time though so you have to stick with it.

as for getting in shape, remember to also maintain an activity that keeps your heart rate up and helps you stay coordinated, like tennis, soccer, basketball, ultimate, whatever. games like that are a good way to sneak cardio into having fun.

running is also a cheap thrill, and it's nice to log your improvements (just like going to the track). it will also help you get more in tune with what you need in terms of nutrition to operate optimally.

Your friend was probably drinking like a whey protein shake. I just bought some of it (EAS whey) and the chocolate actually tastes just like Nestle quik.

I just started working out myself like 2-3 months ago, and learned a lot of stuff by researching on Bodybuilding.com , they have a nice forum, great exercise database, and also a store.

          Whey Protein, good multivitamen.

When you get totally serious and obsessed with it (like i was this summer lol), you take multiple whey shakes a day, lots of chicken, and lots of other high protein food during the day, on top of what you eat normally. I also took Creatine Monohydrate (for energy)and Zinc Magnesium Aspritate (ZMA, for protein synthesis).

But for now, being consistant, good form, and some protein is what you need.

thats not completely true. I took GNC Creatine Monohydrate for a little over a year and cycled off of it for 1 month 3 times. After the first time I cycled it, I never gained anything nor lost anything when I would get on it or off of it. However when i first started taking it, I gained maybe 2-4 lbs and my strength was increasing rapidly. 2 months ago I stopped taking it all together and I still weigh exactly the same, lift the same, and look the same.

it's not all it's cracked up to be.

i think i've said before that i only believe in two "supplements": protein and roids. obviously the side effects of roids are undesirable, so protein it is.

you can get creatine for super cheap now and it may or may not be easy to tell what you're getting. i would take the money you were going to spend on creatine and spend it on healthy food (which, incidentally, is more expensive).

there's nothing scary about creatine. your body makes it naturally... you're just supplementing what it can produce.

I drink a Whey protein shake after every workout. I've definately noticed results (took a few weeks at first, though)

Before you use creatine I suggest reading these:
