I drove my F-body like 5 inches of snow without snow tires. If you know how to drive it, it's a piece of cake. Just make sure you get all season tires and go slow, easy on the accelerator. Learn how to drift and control skid. Me and my friend were having lots of fun at 3am on empty roads on snowdays.

But yeh, trans am gets 28mpg on highway. Get 6sp. When prices go down for LS1's or if I can find a good deal on Formula, I'm getting it. It's not really that expensive, so I don't see any justification in buying some ****box.

you know, you're forgetting one thing, fine you may be able to handle it in snow (i know i'd be able to handle one in snow too) but snow + salt + nice car = not nice car in a couple years due to rust.

Since you live in Wisconsin I'd 2nd the Subaru. I always said if I was to ever buy a Japanese import POS it'd definitely be a Subaru :-P Not to mention GM is partners with em, I think the upcoming Pontiac Solstice has some WRX suspension parts as a matter of fact.

They're not cheap though, the new ones will cost ya up to $30k easy with all the goodies. I only like the square front lights, the round one's look like some kinda insect.

my 93 Firebird has 150,000 miles on it, and has no rust, and paint is still in excellent condition, and in my city they coat the roads in salt, the blacktop becomes white (even after snows been cleared)

Not even close. I have no tickets and one accident on my record and my insurance company (USAA) would charge me $2400 every six months. $400 a month!!
