You know, why the hell is it that those that are all dressed up in their white shirts / black pants cruzing the neighborhood feel it necessary to try to invite me to their religion?

Do they not think that if I wanted to be apart of their "cult, IMO"

And to come to my door is an invasion of privacy for myself. What I really hate is the fact that I had one tell me that I was going to go to hell unless I took "Jehovah" into my heart as my everlasting savior and that I was a sinner because I opened my door w/ a Amber Bock in hand.

Keep that in mind when you are trying to impress your ideals and religion on those that don’t want it, there are those that are not forceful enough to slam the door in your face.

Our homewoners association does not permit this activity. Plus, the guards at the entrance would not let the people in.

When I was growing up, my dad used to talk with the door knockers when they came by. They would never covert or change our religion, but it was always a pleasant and interesting conversation.

SuperSpDB7, I understand what you mean. Unfortunately, I lost most of my friends when I went to college. Many of them stayed at the hometown, but we still keep in touch. I have been seeing my buddies about 2-3 times a week since I have gotten home.

As for the rest of the responses, I assure you that I will try to respect "No Solicitation" signs, and that I will not try to press my relgion upon anyone else. I was not raised in the Mormon religion, so I am not as.... foreceful and close-minded as many others are. I am very happy for the way I was raised, because I think that I am much more tolerant of others than most mormons/religous people are. Anyway, thanks for all your support/honesty. :D

I must say that this is totally the type of response that I thought that I'd receive due to the usage of the word "cult." The Mormon / Jehovah religion has tried very unsuccessfully for a number of years to rid themselves of this branding by society as a whole in regards to their "lifestyle / religious practices."

Mcaanda, my high school English teacher told me something I never forgot. She said, "they're not bad words, they're emphasis words." In reference to foul language of course. So with that in mind, lay off CaLi, he is a cool guy. When you talk sh*t about somebody and their beliefs you can expect replies like that, which you knew. As far as it being a cult, you are right, every religion can be argued as a cult, but that doesn't mean your argument is going to be taken seriously. "woooh somebody believes in something I don't, they're a f*ckin cult!" :rolleyes:
According to your definition, a cult is basically a group of people (usually small in numbers), following somebody who's beliefs are "wrong". Last I checked, like 90% of Americans believe in Hell... so if going to hell is "wrong" making their beliefs cult-ish... I am not making the connection.
BTW, mostly all religions call for the spread of gospel, not just the Mormon religion.

You know I may not be much into any religion at all not even my own, but you should atleast respects another decisions even though you think they're wrong. It's cool if you're into it as long as it makes you happy, it's you're own thing you know.
