• Poor little firebird

So I pulled into my parents drive and there sits the firebird. The second I saw the firebird I felt like I was cheating on a girlfriend and had just got caught. The bird has just sat there collecting dust for the last week and half. I'd like to make it real fast but thinking of just selling it.

Thoughts??

96 firebird, 5spd, glossy black paint (few small chips on bumper) dark tinted windows. Nice rims, and Fuzion zri tires. Nice aftermarket headunit, xm reciever (may or may not be in car when sold)
158,000 miles 90% highway. Car is in excellent mechanical shape, and above normal exterior for year/mileage.

What's it worth? I see them on car lots for $3800 up to $5200

kbb says
$3440 - private party
$4680 - retail

Its also has rear bumper from T/A and dual exhaust, always used synthetic oil, doesn't burn or leak any oil.

I think $3800 is fair. But what do I know. I just feel bad leaving it in the driveway.

Well, for comparison, there was a '98 camaro sitting at the lemon lot on base here for a couple weeks before it was sold. v6, 172,000 miles, asking price was $3800

maybe 3800 isnt too much, more than i would pay, but kbb is based of averages of actual transactions so somebody out there would pay it.

Yeah I'm going to park it in my parents front lawn, they live by a heavily traveled road in town and see what happens....

Sold -- for $3500.00 to my dad, lol.

His transmission in his jeep cherokee limited finally blewup. So he bought it.

As for the price of the firebird though, my car high miles or not is in really good shape, just a few cosmetic things wrong with it. (If a clutch or something expensive would go out on it, I'd probably offer to pay 1/2 since it is my dad)

So lets ask it this way, if you were going to rebuy your car somehow and knew every inch of the thing, and 100% confident in it mechanically what would you pay for your own car??

I paid 3200 for my 98 Camaro with 150K miles. It had a Panasonic head unit, and a new clutch. There were a couple little interior marks and a small dash crack. The rear bumper had a couple marks on it from what the guy told me was a parking lot incident. It's invisible from more than 10 ft away.

I woulda paid probably 3000 for it now but I think I got a fairly decent deal. No serious mechanical problems.

I would pay about $8000 for my '97 Camaro with just over 50k miles. $500 on new tires....$1000 on stereo....mechanically flawless. Cosmetically....soon to have black racing stripes
