• WHat is cool in Chicago

I am catching a flight to chicago O'hare in a few hours. I am going to Great Lakes NAS for some "government business". WHile I am there, I will have about 5-10 hours of free time, and a rental car.

WHat is nifty in chicago? I want to go to the sears tower, but I don't know if they allow visitors, and I don't know how much it would cost to get to the top. The Emp. State building in new york has a $20 fee and a 2 hour wait to get to the top.

WHat Else should I look for?

Don't say Magnus's firebird. I already know what an LS1 looks like. It would be cool if he would show me a demo of his HPT though. I might just buy it on the spot. (wink wink)

Not from chicago but I visited this summer...

You CAN go to the top of the sears tower, I believe it is $10. This is also true with the John Hancock Observatory (the other huge black building in the skyline)

Michigan Avenue/Magnificent Mile is the ritzy shopping area

Plenty of pizza places that served the hyped up chicago deep dish

The train ride by itself is fun from O'hare to chicago avenue. Its about a half an hour ride one-way and costs $1.50 to ride. You'll see people of all walks of life

Trolley's and boat rides downtown. Plenty of historic buildings

Usually something going on at the at the United Center a few miles away

and how could I forget, Opera

just go to the information center on the lower level of O'hare they have good maps and brochures...

Chicago is awesome! There is a ton to do! The Sears Tower is like, $20 or something ... depending on when ya go, no wait. The Hancock building ic cool too, only $10 I think to go to the top. Definately check out Michigan Ave. It's great. If I were you ... I'd just drive around downtown. If ya see something interesting, stop! Anyone can give ya directions back to O'hare ... and there are a million signs. Have fun though!

when i went up the sears tower they played a video as you hauled *** to the top and then the video showed the elevator crashing thru the top of the building....but when u get to the top its cool especially if you catch a thunder storm while your up there

Portillo's hot dogs (I think they're in the 'burbs, tho.)

The Hancock building has a great bar at or near the top where you can look out over the city - just buy a drink and enjoy the view.

The Field Museum of Natural History.
