• Moderating the lounge

I ask why the thread was deleted in regards to Women in Sports and/or the Danika Patrick thread. We had some good debating going on! However, for some reason the thread doesnt exist anymore.

I know the rules, and whatnot. HOWEVER....there's too many people who moderate the lounge, and for me to email EVERY SINGLE one of them and get no response or denial of reason. And after talking with 95fbirdkid, too many to get a hold of to figure out what went wrong. So my question is, since this has been discussed before (it should be necessary for reasons to be posted on why it is getting deleted/locked), why did this topic get deleted? Sucks, because there was some good debating going on. STOP LOOKING INTO THINGS AS ALWAYS BEING ATTACKS AGAINST OTHER PEOPLE! How else are you supposed to debate, because that's what debating is, AGAINST OTHER PEOPLE'S IDEAS! Opposing other people's point of veiw is always seen as an attack. I feel that as long as no one is insulted, then let the words fly. I'm pretty sure that after all these months of people getting aggrevated with the strict modding that personal attacks are silent now.

i deleted the danica patrick thread, After recieving an email from theRick i realized that although my comments were taken differently than i ment them to be, they could be / were taken to offense by some memebers. and since the majority of that thread was based off what i said, I felt it best to remove the whole thing.

I appologize, feel free to make that thread again if you want, i'll stay out of it

as far as debating goes, many times debates get out of hand and turn into personal attacks, someone might have thought they saw that coming in the other thread

edit - the biggest problem w/ heated debates online is you get no verbal cues about what the person is saying, same w/ sarcasm. w/ just reading what someone is typing, it is easy to view it one way, when it was intended to be viewed another.

      1) The reason there are multiple moderators is because we all have lives, too, and don't sit here 24/7 monitoring posts.

      2) I got your email like... 45 minutes ago? So if you were wondering why I didn't respond, have a little patience.

      3) I didn't delete it.

      4) I believe (and as per board regs) that any moderator who deletes a post should email the member explaining why, and any locked post should at least have the word "locked" as the last post by the moderator who locked it.

      5) Have a beer and relax, you're too wound up. It's the Internet.

As long as people take time to consider what they are going to say before they type it (good ol saying, "think before you speak.") then all should be good. Just clearly state your opinion (if you have a logical one)!!!!

1-That I understand, I wasnt complaining about that. I was just stating that i wouldn't even KNOW who to email.

2-BTW, I haven't emailed anyone anything, just talked to 95fbirdkid--lying is bad you know ;)

3-Exactly, I dont know who deleted it

4-I believe that too...just waiting for it to be put into effect

5-So are you saying that no one should get worked up for having their voice of opinion be unheard? Yah, its the internet, but with all due respect, debating = enlightening one's mind. And debating over the internet gets more people involved, thus, enlightening the minds of those who read the discussion as well.

If I lock something... I like to leave an explanation.

            Debates are good.
