    Got a new TV (pic)

    So I just took delivery last week of a brand new TV. I'm pretty pumped about it, cause it's so big and awesome and all. Here's a pic:

    As you can see, it is even more awesome because I can connect my PC to it and all. Doom3, here I come :D

    I have a question about the cables though. The TV has a HDMI input, the DVD player has a HDMI output, but the HDMI cables are very expensive (~100$). Are they really worth it? Should I get them or just live with the component output?

      2g's, but it's worth it. It's a 50" dlp and has pretty much all the goodies (HDTV, HDMI, more types of connectors than I can ever use, etc...).
      I actually hadn't planned on using it as a pc screen, but hey, if it works, it beats the old monitor! Although now I also need a wireless keyboard and mouse.

        Holy s*** thats nice. But 2g's i dunno that coulda gone towards your car :(

          The car is on a separate (and fixed) budget that won't get revised anytime soon. [img]smile.gif[/img] So there's no way the money could have gone towards the car, so I figured I might as well.

            There's more to life then just your car, I'd rather drop 2gs on a nice entertainment center than my car.

              nice TV. I like mine tho. Also, for the comment on the car mods...that's not the only important thing to pump money into ya know.

              Got my PC hooked up to it via component as well. Nothing like Half-Life 2 in 1920x1080 resolution.

                Real nice looking- and I like the added retro-effect of the rabbit ears. Not sure about the hdmi cables, since I'm waiting on getting a new tv until next year. By the way, you have what looks like a smaller version of my entertainment center. What do you think of it? I love mine

                  nice TV, my girlfriends parents just bought me and my girl one... all kinds of fancy stuff, can't wait to hook my computer up to it. Just started playing with what it can do. We are ordering HDTV through cable next week.

                      You could also do conventional S-Video or RCA cabling but the quality won't be as good. If your TV has DVI support that also puts out excellent quality but I prefer my current method.

                          Yeah, this one has an input labeled "PC" that fits a regular vga cable, like any other monitor.
