  • My car might be getting sold

    :(

My parents are quite angry about my little wiring mishap (i probably shorted out the alternator trying to wire up a manual fan switch.) they are threatening to sell the car after it gets fixed. If it DOES get sold, i'll need a new car. i've been thinking about it, checking prices and stuff, and i'd still want to get something decently quick, but would fly under my parent's radar. so, i came up with one answer:

    Grand Prix GTP.

what do you guys think? i don't really want to sell my car, but if i do, how's my idea?

holy crap man...thats what i have been looking into getting..trade my taurus in on a GTP...i have found a couple of used ones around here for pretty cheap with low miles..what years are you looking at? im lookin at the like 01s and 02s before they changed to the new crappy bodystyle. but if you can find with a decent amount of miles and a fair price, go for it.

GTPs are relatively fast cars and don't have that "sports-car" look. I'm actually looking at them as my family car.

i'm looking at '97's-'02's. most likely '97-'00. they do have a sleeper quality to them.

oh yeah, that would go over well.

it may not even be the alternator....the shop is still looking at it. i'm pretty sure that's what it is, but you never know.

i agree with Hawgs, they are being babies. either way, GTP or an SRT-4 would work

Whatever kind of car you end up with, I would cool it on trying to mod it yourself if I were you my friend. :D

Your parents are overreacting, if my parents reacted that way to my modification mishaps I would've lost the car a long time ago. Chances are your parents will go for a GTP tho. It's a 4-door.

i'll be going for the coupe GTP. no 4-doors for me unless it's an Evo or an STi, and i definitely don't have the money for either of those.

No 4 door means no SRT-4??

Could also go with the Ion Red Line ;)

i don't have that much money. i also have no credit (not yet, at least, still paying off loan on the camaro). there's no way i'd be able to get a brand-new car.

hey skorpion, you should post what happened in the electronics section. we could probably help you out in fixing your problem. I've had plenty of dealings with my electrical (wayyy too many) and i just got done fixing all my 0 guage wiring but anyways i can't see how you had short out your alt by a manual fan switch. . . but post what happened in the elec section and if it is indeed you alt then i have my perfect stock one lying on my desk because i upgraded to a HO alt so i could sell you that one for wayyyy less than a shop could get you one for.
