• Got my first speeding ticket!

Well, after 5 years of driving sports cars I got my first speeding ticket. 47 in a 35, I couldn't believe it. $149.00 bucks total. Oh well, I guess the cop had nothing better to do on a Sunday afternoon. There was 3 of us in my firebird, and I think he was looking to make an impression on us. Truth is, he was riding a motorcycle and he looked like a total *** with his helmet and boots. The funny thing is that we were fishing in the Susquehanna River, and we had like 6 fishing rods in the trunk. The officer asked the stupid question... "did ya go fishin?" and my friend in the passenger seat replied, and I quote... "what gave you the first clue dumbass, the rods or the net?" He just stared and came back with our ticket, ha. Oh well.

Sounds like you deserve the ticket. If my friend said something like that i'd whoop him good.

Id say it was BS if you were doing only 5 over, but 12 over in my book def. warrants a ticket.
What\'s her last name? I\'ll look it up.
You know I don\'t recall. Swim, Swammy, Slippy, Slappy, Simmons, Sommons, Swenson, Swanson?
Maybe it\'s on the briefcase.
Oh yeah! It\'s right here, Samsonite! I was way off! I knew it started with an S though!

A+ for your friend. Whenever you know you are going to get a ticket, like in that situation, might as well have fun with the cop and make a story out of it. HAHAHAHA!

No not really, police officers don't like dealing with immature kids such as your self and your stupid friends. If I was that officer I would have looked for EVERYTHING I could have cited you for. Such as: seat belts, burned out lights, cracks in windshield etc. Won't you kids ever learn to freaking grow up. Had that have been my friend and the cop was nice until then I would have made him make a contribution to the ticket-paying fund ;) But if the cop was being an *** then I would have been . All but one of the cops I've encountered have been real nice though. Depends on your attitude. I got pulled over by a SWAT cop on a cycle doing 75 in a 45 and he was an ***, but got my first ticket a few weeks ago 85 in a 65 and I was doing 100. That guy was awesome.

I would have smacked my friend...

                I've gotten a warning for going 105 in a 45.

BTW you do know they have written warnings, just check a box for "citation" or for "written warning"

ohh well cop doing his job(that ironically you pay him to do), and your friend gave him ****... GUy might have busted out into a conversation about fishing, and given you guys nothing.

Well enjoy the $150 fine, points, and increase in car insurance

                      firebird4u99,

I think it's rather unfair that you say I'm immature. I was merely making the best of a bad situation. Perhaps if you knew a little about the cops in my neighborhood you would think likewise. When our store was robbed, they told us after it was all over not to bother them on a saturday afternoon. And not too long ago, our neighbor was almost picked up from a convicted rapist, and the officer told her to avoid it in the future she shouldn't "dress like a slut." I'm sure if that was your daughter you'd have a different opinion on the police too. So like I said, I was making the best of a situation, so until you know how it really is, i advise you keep your mouth shut.

Seeing that you are from Lancaster I sort of can get what you are saying how many cops are in your town. cause I know when I was up at the Pocono’s me and my brother were driving down the road and the cop coming the other way slammed on his braked 180 the car almost hit another car just to pull my brother over for expired window emissions sticker.

I'll agree all cops aren't nice...(get pulled over by a FHP on a motorcycle wearing full garb in the middle of July in FL with no AC) But in my opinion when a cop is asking "so you guys went fishing"

that is your IN to try an make a good impression. That is the point where you could come off as a likeable nice guy who was driving a little fast on his way back form a fishing trip... no harm done no need for a ticket.

Instead, you guys went straight for the "I think I am a hardass cuz I can talk trash to someone while they are at work so they can't do anything to me or they will lose there job."

YOur friend is not "tougher" then the cop... I am sure you said you wouldn't have said it to any other random guy with a nightstick in at his side.

YOu knwo alot of times cops pull people over jsut to check everything is good. Maybe he saw your fishing gear, and thought. "Young guys, fishing gear, maybe they had a day of drinking out on the boat and were drivng"(because I am willing to bet cops have pulled over a few drunk guys in a camaro before) "I'll check it out, and if they turn up fine I will leave them alone."

I'm not saying that all cops are bad, and I know he was trying to do his job, but I honestly can't believe that he had nothing better to do than to pull over the three of us on our way home from fishing for going 12 miles over the speed limit in the middle of the woods. I guess there's not enough crime in Lancaster City to keep him buisy. (yeah right)
