went to the track after work today.....

before my last run I was in the staging lanes, and I had taken my drivers side ttop off (you know where this is goin) When it was our lanes turn I threw it back on and took off.

right before the 1320 I hear a hiss, I looked up and the ****in thing was airborn

I watched it flip around then hit the ground, shattering the glass into god knows how many pieces.

I'm so ****in mad at myself right now......

normally this would be really really funny but for some reason, i thought about how much a ttop costs and it just ruined it for me :(

:mad: yea, I put in a call to a parts dealer in the bay area. he told me that he sells em for 200 a pop, but he doesnt have any drivers side ones right now.

That happened a few too many times at a local track, and they made it a rule at the end of the season, and ALMOST made it a rule for all the following seasons that if you had a T top car you had to take them OFF to run. For the same reasons too... People wouldn't lock them down, and *froof* 20 minutes to clean the track.

My dad did this in his old 92, he just set them on top, before he went into his office, incase it started raining. Got back out said he got all the way up to 75 on the interstate, then woooosshhhh.
In 91 they used the plastic ones, had a deent sized crack, and was severly scratched. He used it for a few weeks till he found a replacement.

generally its best to do your weight reduction before you start the run.. not in the middle of the run
