• *UPDATED*camry finally died *RIP*

driving home today, i notice what sounds like a hole in my exhaust somewhere, but then i discover that it is coming from my engine compartment, and it is metal banging on metal. so i pull off, car is supposed to be getting towed right now. i have a feeling i threw something, something was def. clanging on the side of the engine block. hopefully it is dead and will accelerate the time it takes to get my f-bod. what do you think it could be? i hope it is something expensive and not worth fixing, i will update. *UPDATE* my mom contacted the shop thismorning, it was a broken rod like i assumed, they are looking for used engines, but in all likelyhood it is dead, so get back to me on what you think about that white one on the bottom, because it may just be mine soon enough

Any topic that begins with "camry finally died" definately calls for the dancing bananna.
There is fast, too fast, and way too fast. Way too fast is almost fast enough.

No, i dont beleive it, it has to be a lie, Camry's don't die. I will bet that it is something simple like a gasket. no matter how much you want it to die it wont, and that is what is truely sad, that it wont up and die.

i've been trying for a while, and i wasnt trying when this happened, i dont think a gasket makes those kinds of sounds, something was def hitting the engine block at every revolution

did it get louder/faster when you reved/accelerated ? if you really wonna kill it im sure it'd be dead by now. neutral drops arent healthy for the trans at all. ;)

or he could just drain the oil and wait for the motor to lock up.

i think it probably has > 1 quart in it right now, its been a while since i've added, and it leaks, it wasnt on the stick. and i've done nutral drops before, its lost all of its torque and wont burn out when you do that anymore. but we still need to at least keep the car to keep my insurance waaaay down. i am kinda interested to find out what really happened, before i realized what happened i was flooring it, i dont think 6000 rpm's helped it out at all when it did whatever it did

can you tell where its comeing from, top ,bottom ect. is it making the noise at crank speed or half the engine speed? ticks/clanging can be alot of things.

thanks, i will update tonite after the shop calls me and tells me whats going on, i am most seriosuly looking at This any advice? i need something that will last me a good 6-7 more years with minimal problems, i know about the opti problem and i can deal with that, but anything else costly that is likely to go out? idk, i am looking around, we'll see what happens, a decision will probably be made tonite after we find out whats wrong, wish me luck

there is no such thing as cheap with lt1s. for that price you could find one with less mileage on it though.
