The girl at work...

Story: So there's this girl at work, her name's Leah. IMO she's the most beautiful girl I've ever met (keyword met). Anywho, she's 19, she's single, I'm 18, I'm single and I want her.

Description time: She's not like model kind of hot, she's girl next door hot. She has brown hair a little past her shoulders, beautiful green eyes (they change color sometimes), she's about 5'4" maybe 5'5" (short just how I like em) and pretty skinny, doesn't have big boobs or a huge @$$ or anything. She's uber cute and very innocent looking. Kinda quiet, not a party girl.

The conflicts: I'm not very smooth with girls, and with her sometimes I can't even talk when I'm around her just because. Another thing is that I work with her and I don't like the idea of dating someone at work just because of the things I've seen happen but with her I think I'm going to make an exception. The main problem is all of the relationships I've been in weren't started by going out on dates and such. They started as us being friends then getting close and I just decide to kiss them and things work out. The thing is, though we are friends we don't exactly hang out, in fact I only see her at work (I work at Publix btw). I've tried inviting her to parties so I could "hang out" with her there but she doesn't do parties so that didn't work. And because of the way my other relationships have been I don't know how to try and get one started with her.

Plea for help: I know I could just like ask her to a movie or something but I've never done that kind of thing before so I don't really know how I should go about things. Anyone have some advice for me?

Just ask her out to go do something... Movie's are corny but gives you something to talk about afterwards, so you just don't have those awkward(sp?) silences.

Getting rejected or shot down is nothing compared to wondering what could, should or would happen, and obsessing over some girl.


I'd also be a little iffy with "dipping the pen in the company ink"

If you have problems, you work together, if you just see each other and are not working side by side might not be that bad. But side by side, you might get annoyed and more likely to cause problems later.

Not sure if its a problem or not but check out what your company policy is on dating other employees, its fine but I know my work doesn't allow people to be working in a boss/subordinate situation in the same department. Jsut to avoid the whole sexual harrassment crap.

i've seen her, she's a cutie. just try flirting w/ her at work and see how she responds. then just kinda slip in that you two need to hang out sometime. if she looks at you funny just play it off that you were joking around; but usually they'll yeah lets hang out. either go out to dinner and maybe a movie, or go out w/ some friends. either way pick her up and drive so you two can talk and be alone at times. don't make it out to be a big deal at first b/c that might scare her off. just get to know her and see how it goes.

btw, wasn't she engaged at some point? i could have swore i saw a ring on her finger awhile back.

Well, always gauge for positive responses from flirting. Does she laugh even if you're not THAT funny? Does she smile when she talks to you? You should have a good sense of whether or not she genuinely enjoys your company. If you get negative feedback, then move on.

Throwin' the wiener around within the company isn't THAT big of a deal. My girlfriend of six months was formerly my boss :D . Gotta be careful with those, though. If you break up with her, just keep it smooth. Just ask her out once, if she says "no", then move on. Otherwise you'll start getting harassment issues.

Predator is right. If you can conquer this one aspect, then you'll be fine. That aspect, the attitude of, "whatever."

I actually did date a girl a work for a while. I take it you guys work together, of course. Just be like, "hey, what are you doing after work?" And suggests going to an upbeat place like Fridays (TGIF), or Sharkey's, or whatever you have in FL. Just be chill about it, you'll be fine.

What I used to do was always drop lines that would give me an opportunity to ask her out. Like make comments like you are hungry and if she says she is too then be like we should get some food after work or something like that. I would do the same in school saying I dont understand something and if she said she didnt either tell her that we should try and see if we could figure it out sometime. Stuff like that always worked for me.
