Ok man, I'm a checker at my grocery store. Here's the thing. How quick can you get up to being a checker? You said she's already a checker. How old are you, how old is she? (Nevermind, she's 18).....

Man, there's a lot of things you could say to her, especially if she's just started checking, and since you want to be a checker. Here's what I HAVE DONE, and what you could do.

You need help studying your codes (produce), so you were wondering if she had any suggestions. (It doesn't have to be codes, it could be anything regarding becoming a checker). Ask her if she would like to help you out. Of course, she'll say yes. Then ask her if you mind meeting up for lunch or something so to have her help you out. If she says, no, then you know where you stand. If she says yes, then make a meet. While you guys are studying or whatnot, FLIRT with her a little bit, and try to get more personal with her. Then see if you can make "meeting like this" a habit, and go from there.

And another thing....get this into your head!

Just because she laughs at you doesn't mean she's interested. BELIEVE ME! Being a checker myself for over a year, me and my co-checkers will laugh at anything a courtesy clerk / bagger says just to get out damn minds off of the damn *****ing costumers! The stupidest things will make us laugh/smile. So don't use that as a sign.

And the ultimate thing!!!!!!!!! DON'T TALK ABOUT IT TO ANYONE UNLESS SHE"S COOL WITH IT!!!!! (I don't know about your store, but my store, word gets around FAST)

What store number? My fathers pretty high up in Publix, he has a lot of years with them. And I'm pretty sure Publix doesnt like the idea of employees dating eachother.

store # 607, there are a few people dating at my publix, they just won't let it happen with people in management, at least at my store that's how it is...

They are pretty strict t the movie theatre, technically you are not allowed to work in the same department. They woudl make you quit or transfer. Even then they try and schedule opposite shifts.

Especially between management and floorstaff... thing is the biggest concern is theft.

First off, are you going to make Publix your career? If you can't work there and date her find a new job. I know your probably in school, but if it doesn't work out go to Walmart or something.

Since you actually talk to her, why not ask her what she likes to do for fun and show interest. Maybe she likes to mountain bike or hike. Then ask her if she would like to do that with you sometime and get a bite to eat afterword. Movies are great, but you can't talk to each other. Glad I'm married and don't have to go through this crap any more.
