wrap some foil around it, and put it in the microwave!

You can make mashed potatoes, potato salad, potato soup, potato on a bob, stuffed potatoes, baked potatoes, sliced potatoes (french fries), potato chunks, potato skillets (au gratin).

What kind of potatoes do you want?

Bake potato like the type they serve in restaurants with the brownish skin still on it

And I've put foil in the microwave before

1 large russet potato (If it looks like Mr. Potato Head(r), you've got the right one.)
Canola oil to coat
Kosher salt

Heat oven to 350 degrees and position racks in top and bottom thirds. Wash potato (or potatoes) thoroughly with a stiff brush and cold running water. Dry, then using a standard fork poke 8 to 12 deep holes all over the spud so that moisture can escape during cooking. Place in a bowl and coat lightly with oil. Sprinkle with kosher salt and place potato directly on rack in middle of oven. Place a baking sheet on the lower rack to catch any drippings.

Bake 1 hour or until skin feels crisp but flesh beneath feels soft. Serve by creating a dotted line from end to end with your fork, then crack the spud open by squeezing the ends towards one another. It will pop right open. But watch out, there will be some steam.

NOTE: If you're cooking more than 4 potatoes, you'll need to extend the cooking time by up to 15 minutes"

Wash the potato. Brush vegetable oil on the top. Sprinkle on Kosher salt. Bake on sheet pan on 350* for 1 hour. BAM!!!

At least that's how we cook em' at work.

Cook off 3 or 4 potatoes. Take the remaining ones and refrigerate them. Once they're completely cool cut them into quarters. Scoop out the centers to where there's like 1/8th of an inch of potato left. Next you can go at it two ways.
#1 Freeze them then follow number 2 when you want to eat em'.
#2 If frozen throw them in a deep fryer till they're nice and crispy (just about golden brown) spread them out on a sheet tray and put some shreaded cheese and bacon on them. Place in oven (salamander works too) for a few minutes until the cheese melts. BAM! You have yourself some potato skins.

I know it's probably too late, but you can cook a baked potato in the microwave if your really impatient. Just pop it in there for roughly 6 minutes or so. It's nowhere near as good as a baked potato in the oven, but will cook it all the way through. Much better to bake it for real though if you have the time.
