Turbocharged Monte Carlo

Lets start off by saying, this kid is more of an aquaintance then a friend.

So last night he's like, come check out my new car. It was a Monte Carlo SS. He goes, this baby is turbocharged... Right there, I was like... what? Wait a second, you mean supercharged? He's like, no no, its turbocharged. After about 5 min of me arguing with him that if it even actually has anything, itd be supercharged, not turbocharged, I finally tell him to prove it. He pops the hood, I go, alright, show me this turbo, and he points at the alternator... I go, "You're an idiot." close the hood, and just walk inside. I found out later, it was only an 02, not an 04.

Now on a side note, as far as I know, superchargers on those things weren't even available until this year, correct? So he royaly got suckered...

(By the way, obviously there was no supercharger either.)

Theyve been available with a Supercharger for a couple years now, just very limited quantities.

Sounds like his buddy is the wanker then. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, it was kind of dark outside, but cmon... I MAY have been a little more understanding if he mistook the alternator as a centrifugal supercharger, but a turbo, thats quite a stretch... [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Haha, now that would have been funny, but I had my bike at the time. I guess I could have found a "turbo" on my bike too, and could have showed him that. [img]graemlins/naughty.gif[/img]

I'm almost positive that 2004 was the first year the supercharger was made available in the monte carlos/impala.

2004 IS the 1st year for the supercharger in the monte carlo ss and impala, its been in the gtp since 1997, the regal since 1997 and the bonneville since 1996. I was disappointed when they put it in there in 04, mainly cause its a outdated powerplant, they could have at least put the 04 gtp motor in it
