Ok well we got this server at our shop for free cause the company sent us 2 but we needed one and we called back and they claimed there no record of a server missing so we have a free server. However, damn thing is not booting. When I turn it on all the fans spin the fancy visual display for the temp and what not goes on. But there no post beep and no picture I tryed undoing everything and just hooking up the essentials like keyboard, mouse, video, and CPU heat sink still nothing. Would you guys say the CPU shot or what are your opinions.

First check and make sure the CPU, Memory, and any expansion cards (vid cards, NICs, etc) are properly seated into their spots
If that doesn't work, it could be (but may not be limited to) any of or any combination of the following
Bad power supply
Bad motherboard
Bad processor
Bad memory
Bad video card
Bad expansion card (nic, sound card, modem, etc)
To narrow it down, start pulling things & hitting the power:
Pull all periphials, but leave the vid card, memory & processor. If no post/beep then you've ruled out expansion cards.
Then pull the video card. The computer should beep multiple times and not boot if the vid card or memory isn't present
If still no beeps, pull the memory, power it on.
If still no beeps, you've narrowed it down to the PS, Mobo or CPU.
The power supply is easy to rule out by swapping in a spare or testing it with a power supply tester.
The several times I've experienced this with my computer or any of my client's computers it's turned out to be a bad motherboard.
Good luck
Mike

Hey, you've got one good and one bad right? Worst case, take the known good out and place the unknown server (uk) in the good server (gs). (ie - swap the ram from the (uk) to (gs), see if the gs boots up. If so, swap the video card. If so, swap the CPU, etc, etc... long and boring, but it gets the job done.Sinister Six
Cardomain
--This doesn\'t change the fact that I am ~The Guru~ who still kicks puppies...
