I absolutely DESPISE crap like that. Why should your uncle (or any relation) make any difference in weather or not you get a ticket. </font>
Yield to the shield! </font>
Maybe not the same extreme, but that presumption doesnt make us any better than Taliban ruled Afganistan or Saddam's Iraq. Last I knew, we were 'supposed' to be a Democracy where EVERYONE shared the SAME rights.
P.S. and no, I didnt take my Similac this morning either.

</font>
yea, i mean, that is a pain in the ***. so what if your uncle is in the same profession upholding the same laws. that would be like getting a discount on a car from a cousin who is a dealer, or getting a free phone from a brother who is a cell dealer. who wants that?
yes, but those priviledges dont compromise the whole ideology of "All men are created equal." I, at least, dont think that our country was founded with the notion that certain individuals can sidestep laws that others ore required to obey. In fact, I thought thats what was trying to be avoided. It seems Im the only person that thinks that way.

this thread has taken a swing and I apologize for it. Jessica, I do hope that you make out OK at court and learn from the incident.
I do also hope that many of you are never called to serve as a juror, as it seems that you really dont think of laws (even ones as small as traffic laws) as needing to being enforced equally.
There is a difference between who you are born and who you are. Even the lowest/ most humble born can become great people full of integrity, capeable of networking and advancing their social status (and get priviledges like free cell phones and deals at used car lots). These people stand on their own feet, instead of those of others.
When you chose to break the law, you should be judged solely on who you are. To many times growing up I have seen peers avoid charges for DUI, assault, theft, etc. because his person father is this guy, or her father owns that.... Ive had friends lose their lives those very people.... having passed off resposibilities for their own actions making them wreckless and dangerous, plain and simple.
Go to court, apologize, see if the judge will reduce the charges, pay the fine and remember that check you wrote out the next time you CHOSE to exceed the speed limit by 35mph.
Signing off for the night. Flame away.

I chose to drive a car I should not. ( It was mine, but still..) I gambled, I lost. Yes, I beat the tickets and the almost $800 in fines, but the judge took the license anyway.
And people do get away with things because of who they know or how much money they have.
You chose to exceed the speed limit. You chose to race some idiot on a public road because he/she revved an engine at you.
i admit i was speeding, but i jsut really think this police officer was definitely unprofessional with the routine stop. I wasn't racing... I am not that stupid. The RSX was 5 car lengths behind me.. and yes i noticed him but i wasn't trying to play around with him.. i was trying to get over to the exit...because i had no idea where i was. Thanks guys..for the input hopefully all goes well. I really screwed up this time.
besides, just be glad he didn't give you a racing ticket. i've gotten one of those when I wasn't racing and they SUCK! luckily the laws that make it suck even more weren't in effect when i was issued it

Your story fails to mention how the officer was unprofesional.
Originally posted by Domestic Violence: and why did he charge you twice for the same offense? that's double jeopardy. one ticket for speeding over 80 and one for going 80?
There is no double jeopardy here. One ticket is for exceeding the speed limit and one is because she was so many miles over the limit.
this makes me sick. all you people act like you're a bunch of f*cking saints. you drive an f-body and youve been speeding on a public road at least twice in youre life... stfu.
sooooo many speeding ticket topics.. I am getting more and more paranoid that I will get a ticket after I get my car lol. I think that not only will I be a bigger target for cops... but I have this notion that somehow I will lose all sane thought once I have some power. lol, I get this mental image of myself with an insane grin, beedy pupils, staring off into space with my neck crooned over the wheel going 90. hahaha Hope I can have some self control!
The more I talk to mom about cars and about these car vids I see... she thinks I have in mind to do what I see on the car vids (not really true) and made me promise yesterday that I'd never race! I basically told her I promise not to street race, but I'm not promising not to accelerate rapidly. She is getting worried I think : /
