But, there is one thing you must know. If you move out, you can no longer use the pick up line, "Hey, wanna come back to my mom's place...?"

Having your own place is one of the greatest things.... much better than a fast car and living at home. BUT..... being strapped for cash all the time is not fun at all. A car battery and gas shouldnt really be considered 'bigger purchases' when you've got rent, food, electricity, gas & water bills.

Stay at home for a while, build up some cash as a safety net and talk to your parents about the rules. Your 18, so supposedly you should be responsible, but also look at it from their point of view. Maybe the reason they set a curfew is that they dont want to be woken up everynight at 2-3 in the morning as you stagger in, turning on all the lights and rummage for food when they need to get up and go to work in the morning. Talk to them about it, ask them why they have their rules and what you might be able to do to help them out.... show them your responsible and they should lighten up.

As already stated - go to school.

If you get along with the 'rents, stay home and save money. Maybe put a little into your car, but save your money. The real world is a sucky place - don't be too anxious to go there.

Work on your 'rents with the crufew. You are 18, and they should understand.

Don't go to school if you don't want to or don't know what you want out of it. It will most likely be a waste of your time/money. It was for me and several others who felt that they needed to go to college becuase they were told they "had" to.

Go when your ready, otherwise your heart's not in it and you end up with lots of debt and nothing to show for it.

Thanks guys. I will most likely just go back to the community college and finish what I started and get a 2-year degree. In my opinion I've learned more in 2 years on the job than you can learn in 4 years of college. Nice to have a degree to back up your work experience though.

I think I've pretty much decided on the car. So now I have to wait until I've paid my car down enough so I owe what it's worth, then I'm ready for my LS1 :D

Still not sure what I want to do with it. For awhile I was thinking turbo, but it's pretty expensive. I think I'll be happy with 400hp. Then again, a lot of people say that and just kept going lol.

I just want to say something. BUY your own place. Renting is just pissing money away. Stay at home and save coin for buying a house.

If you move out at 18, and live in an apartment for 5 years, you've pissed away $60,000 and nothing to show for it.

Or if you lived at home, and invested that $1000/month you'd be paying in rent and utilities, you'd have roughly about $72,000(putting 250 away a week, remember the more often you put money in, the faster it compounds). I got this number from paypals moneymarket, which is what I'm using as a savings account, and it's only 3.76% interest. I'm sure you can find something that has a much higher interest rate. Just some fuel for though.

I wish I had invested when I was younger. I would have enough money to buy a house in cash if I did.
