http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...5_213_full.jpg

biggest bill of the group is $18,897.35

    smallest bill is $15

most of them are in teh $700 range. 4 of them are for more then $5,000.

So if ya don't have insurance... I suggest looking into getting some And if you get some don't be like me and get crappy insurance, get the good stuff.

BTw that $18,897.35 one... I *think* I might be getting 3 more of those... I know I will be getting at least one more like it though.

When my mother went to the emergency room, had emergency heart surgery, and then died in the hospital, they sent all the bills to her house with her name on them like someone was going to pay them.

They didn't get a dime from the estate.

... ive got a good life insurance policy. :(

I wish you the best Eric. I know what it can be like fighting the billing department when you dont have insurance. Insurance company would pay probably less than half of what the hospital asks for, but they will make you pay every last penny... two or three times. I had an ER bill I had to pay out of my own pocket. 3 different departments tried billing me for the exact same thing.

no kidding. my dad - diagnosed with esophagial cancer - was then told that the surgery, since there was no guarantee it would save his life, was not covered on their insurance policy and would they please cough up 375,000.00 to cover it?

my mom and dad had to re-mortgage the house.

now before you get all heartless and cold and ask why the **** did they do that when they knew he wasnt gonna make it and i have to hate you forever -- they didnt know he wasnt going to make it. there are miracle stories sometimes. the point is, get good health insurance.

oh yea. my mom has Kaiser Permanente through the LAUSD. dad was covered on her policy. they(Kaiser) can suck my dick for all i care. asshats.

We got insurance coverage 4 months before my wife was diagnosed with Hodgkins.

To the tune of $100-110k later, they've paid all but about $6k

Otherwise we'd be filing for medical bankruptcy.

definitly get blue cross and & blue shield ppo and not a hmo. i knew someone that had a hmo and got sick liek 2 or 3 times in one year around winter and her insurance company (hmo) said she could go to the doctors if she wants to be covered.

Health Insurance is probably the biggest problem in the country.

I'm 19 turning 20 soon, I work a $7.00 per hour job 30 hours a week. No benifits of any kind.

I've had some small problems starting last week, I've had to go to the doctor twice second time he gave me prescriptions. All together it cost me around $200. But I've only worked about 3 hours since last thursday. Thursday and today they were the ones who told me to go home, of course no pay.

Luckly my dad helped me out by paying for my scripts and the second doctors appointment he also gave me the $250 for my car payment.

I need to find a job that offers insurance and more money. I just figured my finances out sunday, turns out at the end of each month I am about $66 in the black. Thats if I'm only spending $3 a day for food and drinks and whatever else while I'm at work.

So like shenanigans said, anyone who doesn't have insurance or in a situation like mine, look into making some changes, you never know what will happen health wise, stupid things can happen at anytime and cost alot of money to fix.

Yeah im also in a quite nice financial situation... Im 19 and am going to be a sophmore next year at Rose-Hulman in Indiana. If you dont know, this school is THE #1 Engineering School in the US so therefore it is 38,000 a year. Now i have around 23,000 in Scholarships and Grants, but depending on the remains from Air Force ROTC. Last year at the end of the year we had a competition to up your chances of getting a type 3 scholarship (15,000) over a type 2 (9,000) and was told by my commanding office not to do it, seeing as Mechanical Engineers are direct admit. Well i go in to see if i had gotten the scholarship last week and find out i only got a type 2 beucase they were cutting down on type 3's. So needless to say i am down 18,000 a year becuase i was instructed not to do the competetion. If i would have done it i would have had a type 3 no doubt seeing that i am the top physical fit and academic cadet. So now i am faced with going in and laying the line of them giving me a type 3, or i go bye bye.. I wanted to not have to get loans though...

                        What's health insurance?? j/k

I think the reason most people who don't have health insurance, have realized alot of companies health care packages are crap. And if they are barely having ends met anyways they know, they can't be refused medical care if needed.

Couple years back I was working for Applied Card Sysytems (ACS) it was a debit collections for some high intrest credit card. Anyways crap job, but paid almost 10 bucks an hour. The company insurance deducted 110 bucks a month for dental/vision/health care. And if something major happened they'd pay less than 1/2 for major medical. So I dropped it.

Now I'm in my "career field" and should look for health care, but then agian I'm 24 and invinsible

My health insurance is a fricken joke. My 13 month old daughter had pnumonia the begnining of this year. Took her to the ER. They giver her tylenol, motrin, antibotics and an xray. They tell us to follow up with the doctor, who orders a nebulizor. Then my insurance sends us a bill for $839 for the ER visit. We go to her doctor who claims her nebulizor was covered by my insurance. A month later I get a bill for another $400.

Thats not all. We had to pay $3500 in dental surgury for my wife(same insurance company). about a week ago, we get a call from the surgens office saying insurance is refusing to pay. This is after the surgens office had already sent the paper work to my insurance company to get an estimate of what we would owe. I ****en hate my work, any minor crap and I have to pay 100%. The only good thing is if anythng major happens, we only have to pay a max of 5k out of pocket.

Tricare Prime for my wife and I. Free prescriptions on base, and if you need to have anything done off-base, it's all covered. That's one of the good things about being in the military.
