THis study on T-rex was mostly done by that guy they consulted with in JP3. JP3 wanted to find any star other than the T-rex, and so the Spinosaurus was the logical choice. Can a Spinosaurus kill a T-rex, ofcourse. It just comes down to who gets their bite in first. But highly unlikely a Spinosaurus would win easily. Because a T-rex is a skilled hunter and fighter. It can kill a Triceratops and a Stegasaurus and even a huge Braichiasaurus. A Spinosaurus spends a great deal of it time in water eating fish. It's sail usually stick out of the water to help regulate it's body temperature.
Other studies shows that the T-rex has a big brain, big olefactory for smelling, and long conical teeth made for crushing bones. If you're mostly a scavengers you wouldn't need long conical teeth to kill your prey. But short, sharp teeth for cutting.
There are fossil evidence that shows a T-rex on a back of a Brontosaurus. A Dinosaur that's 5x it's size.
Quite simple, the T-rex is an ambush predator, stocking it's prey. With it's incredible sense of smell. It can track down any prey and with its narrow eyes, it can focus in on it.
