try to get book value for it, they might give you book minus deductible, then change companines when your current policy expires. You might come out a little better that way.-Brad

that accually looks bad... sometimes insurance companys wont give you a policy if you recently claimed something and are now trying to switch companys.CaLi
-=|Sinister Six|=-
1999 Chevy Camaro Pewter
Have you ever wanted to know what happens
to a 3.8l v6 when you are doing 90mph in
2nd gear at 6000 rpm? pics to come soon...

there's noway i'll be able to afford a v8 until i'm 25 so i was thinking about an 02 or 03 nissan sentra SE-R.. anyone have any ideas as to what kind of car i should get? keep in mind that i may have 12,000 to spend.. i welcome everyones input because i'm going to need a car pretty quick.

"Much as it pains me to suggest a Ford, I'd buy a 2002-03 SVT Focus instead of a Sentra SE-R. The Sentra isn't put together well, it feels cheap. The Focus, while not the fastest thing out there, has great fit/finish and excellent reliability (according to Consumer Reports), and should be within your price range. I would not spend $22k to buy one new, but the used price is pretty good."
i'll also keep that in mind.. although, after talking to an insurance broker (not mine) that works at farmers, i was told that my rates would NOT go up because the wreck wasn't my fault.. so hopefully she's right. i talked to the body shop and they quoted about 8700 dollars worth of damage. he told me that his system still says that my car is totalled but, the actual claims adjuster hasn't been out there to look at it yet. i should know in around 24 - 48 hours.. but anyway, all hope is not yet lost. my insurance covers a rental car up to 20 dollars a day for a max of 600 dollars total. so i'll probably be sporting an escort or metro around for a few weeks. i'm keeping hope alive that they can fix my car. but a payoff wouldn't be bad if my rates don't increase. i'll keep this thread updated (if anyone cares.. if not, too bad 'cause i'm going to post anyway)\'01 Arctic White Firebird 5spd Totaled
\'99 Pewter T/A 6spd Replacment

do you have an amount of insurance on your policy that covers for uninsured drivers? If you do, and the accident was not your fault, then they have to legal reason to jack up your rates - that's why you have the "uninsured motorist" coverage in the first place - otherwise, what's the point in having it?
Check with them and check with the police what those rules are... as far as I know, there is no way your insurance should be affected because of an accident that wasn't your fault...... blonde moments happen to the best of us...

i'm not sure what the amount is. lets just say my damage come to 8600 dollars (which it does). if my uninsured drivers coverage amount is 7000 dollars, then what? i have to pay out of pocket?\'01 Arctic White Firebird 5spd Totaled
\'99 Pewter T/A 6spd Replacment

Get on him with the police.
He showed them invalid insurance card. Thats against the law. If your not gonna get any money at least get him in all sorts of legal trouble.
And Sue him. he may be broke buy maybe he has parents willing to bail him out.
I knew a kid, he worked a minimum wage job, was out fo school did nothign but work and party, he didn't have insurance on his car, he hit someone else. Offered to pay under the table to avoid insurance or work something out. Paide them like $700 then they turned around and sued him for another $4800. His parents bailed him out on it.

Man, I almost felt your pain today also. My wife and I were on our way to the food store when we came to a yellow light. We stop, and then I hear a car lock up their tires. There was one of the trucks that bread companies have (not really a box truck, just huge and ugly) swerving trying to stop in time. We were lucky being the first car at the light, so I give it some gas and give the guy behind us *plenty* of room to stop. I swear, some people just can't drive. On the upside, If you want an ls1 cheap, check out Cop Cars Online and look at their internet specials and new arrivals. They have some B4C's there cheap. Or what about a gtp. We were looking into a '99 a couple weeks ago, and allstate said that it would lower my rates to go from the v6 camaro to the gtp. I know you can find those cheap on ebay. Just my thoughts. Sorry about the bird, but maybe it was a blessing in disguise (ls1!) Good luck man

Man, so sorry for your lost there. I worry alot too when I'm driving and I see cars going fast behind me and then making sudden stops. Too close for comfort.
I often wonder if the blackout tail-light is doing something too. I notice you have one.
I hope things works out.
