• Hey Domestic Violence, I've got a question for you since you seem to be on right now

Hey there, I was wondering about headlight blackouts... are they illegal? I know laws vary but are they illegal where you are?

I asked some of the guys on the board and they don't seem to be sure either way. If the headlights are bright enough they ought to be legal methinks. Thanks.

thats usually true. i never take mine off. if you look at the light at night, it just looks like its dirty or whatever. i've never had a cop notice them. but i think they know and just dont care cause its me. have you see the korean guy with his tint? you cant see any light threw that ****. its crazy. i dought you could see out side. the pic shows his windows up with his top down and threw the inside, you cant see anything on the other side

When I was younger I had a Honda CRX. I had black outs on it and got pulled over one night for having them on. Pretty sure they are Illegal any where at night.

Man that stinks. If I knew it was one of those things that would never get enforced I wouldn't mind... but the cops around here are known for being nazis and I don't want to give them any extra excuses for giving me a ticket.

Are blackouts something you can just take on and off at will or is it an install thing that would take a few minutes? If I knew I could take them off easily I might just cruise with 'em in the day and take 'em off at night. I looked 'em up online and they didn't say anything about easy removal.

Maybe it's not so much that it is the blackout itself so much as the fact that the headlights are not bright enough when a blackout is on? Perhaps if I got really bright bulbs that would shine through...

if it takes you a full minute, you should see a doctor for physical disabilities . i have taillight blackouts and i've never gotten any kind of trouble from cops and they're nazis here too. the light goes right through them and barely dims them. and yes, i've had quite a few cops behind me. but anyway... yes, they come off easier than you imagine. sometimes they come off TOO easy. going down the road at highway speeds or washing your car, they can sometimes come off on some cars (don't know why only some cars... might be the brand they use?). that problem can easily be fixed by velcrow or 3M tape.

That's reassuring! I might consider getting them. Since I'm going to get a black one.. I think it'd be sweet to just full-on make the whole car black and stealth-like. Darkest legal tint I can get... blackouts front and rear. I'll look like a drug dealer lol. Maybe even one of those dark license plate covers. Do ya know if those are illegal?
