  • 260$ TICKETS!!!

Dammit! To make a long story short, I was on I-75 here by Miami and I get pulled over by a undercover Mercury Morauder(sp?) Highway Patrol car with 20 inch chrome wheels, limo tint all around and dual exhaust. I got pulled over for operating my exhaust too loud not OEM and having tints that were too dark! He never tested my tints with the meter to see if they were really too dark and by what percentage. Oh, get this, I got a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt and I had it on, the guy never even came up to my car. He called me out and said if he had to talk as loud as the way he was, that means my exhaust is too loud. He had to talk that way because we were in the Middle of FREAKING I-75. I dont know how I got a ticket for no seatbelt, if he was behind my car and said my tints were too dark, how can he even see whether I have it on or not? (I DID HAVE IT ON, I ALWAYS WEAR MY SEATBELT).

I know I can't fight the exhaust ticket which was 89.50. But do I have a chance at the seatbelt (89.50) and the tinted windows ticket(67.00) in court??? They were all non moving violatons. What would you do? Any advice would be appreciated.

I dont have the heart to remove my exhaust and put a quiet one, so I plan on fixing the little things on my car and getting a 98+ Firebird.

you may not have teh heart to change your exhaust, but I bet your wallet will change that after a few times. (I wonder how many modified harlies get tickets?????)

I'd fight the tint & seatbelt allegations. If he never tested the tint, how can he verify (unless you have something WAY WAY over legal limit). WHen he called yo out, ws your car still running? (that alone sounds fishy)

you can fight anything, a friend of mine protested a n excessive noise ticket (he had a cutout on his 3.4L) and won.

and im happy that guy didnt see me when i was going down 75 a while back when i was going 95 with no muffler :D

I would fight that ticket on the seatbelt and tint charge. Take it to court man. Maybe the cop won't even show up and they'll throw the case out the door.

plead guilty to the exhaust, and plead not guilty to the tint and seatbelt..... if the tint was too" dark" he wouldnt have been able to see you w/o it on..... and if he didnt test it.... theres no way for him to prove it was too dark... even him being a cop... him saying "i think it was below legal limit" will not hold up in court..... plus the pleading guilty to the exhaust will make u look good...

fight the tint and seatbelt for sure. you are going to have to take the exhaust ticket with no lube though which is stupid. what kind of exhaust do you have anyways?

thanks for all the advice. I have straight pipe to in place of the catalytic converter and a dual out 3.5" inch muffler, which I think is Remus. Its deep and loud and its my favorite thing about the car, and If I have to quiet it down I rather just geta newer Firebird.

Its tough for me, Im only 16, and that is a lot of money for me considering I work at a Publix Supermarket and can only work 20 hours a week. I had just won bose speakers on ebay for my bird too, I dont know what Im going to do about that. At least this hurricane is giving me more work. If I can get the seatbelt and tint ticket off then I'll be okay.

It was what the 20th, he needs to meet his monthly quota. On my way back home, he had already pulled over a Nissan Sentra, go figure.
