my mother-in-law lives 2 states over in missouri and she called saying her car won't start. so i said well it could be the starter, battery, alternator. Well she called a garage and they towed it over and ran some diognostics and came up with the conclusion that her car runs on gas and it won't run with out it.....anyone else know someone who has done that?

No but, i wish my inlaws would leave. They live in St. Croix, USVI and have been here for a month so far. I need my privacy back, thank god they're leaving on saturday. Be glad she's 2 states away. LMFAO

So when she called you, you didn't bother to try to help, you know by asking what it did when the key was turned?

Dead battery and no gas don't start very differently

most technician dont look for such stupid **** right off. besides, just cause they charged her .4 doesnt mean it took that long. usually when it something like that that isnt in a book to charge out, techs make up what they think they should get :D

my fiance ran out of gas on saturday. well we just made it to the cast station. not because he forgot to fill the tank. we were going to do a gas tank swap on sunday. so we didn't want much gas in it. the gauge was broken so we didn't know what he had left. we were just going by miles. then the car wouldn't start, finally got it to crank. and it was fine.

My friend took his car in to ge tthe brakes fixed because when he was stopping there was a grinding noise that wouldnt quit.

The mechanic tested it and figured out that a jar full of coins in the trunk rolling forward everytime he stopped was the culprit.

We had a good laugh and still pick on him for it today.
What\'s her last name? I\'ll look it up.
You know I don\'t recall. Swim, Swammy, Slippy, Slappy, Simmons, Sommons, Swenson, Swanson?
Maybe it\'s on the briefcase.
Oh yeah! It\'s right here, Samsonite! I was way off! I knew it started with an S though!

Not my inlaw but I was. I keep turning the key when I know full well that it's out of gas and it won't start. That's when I found out that 'E' actually means empty on a Firebird.

No such thing as a reserve tank.

I ran out of gas one time about a block from 7-11, walked over a block, bought a gas can and filled it with a gallon. When I first tried to start it the damn thing wouldn't turn over...I thought "Oh **** whats going on?" Tried it again, I guess the fuel lines just had to fill up.

Charging .4/labor is being nice. If someone pulled that in to MY shop I would charge them a full hour of diagnostic time. Thats what you get when you're stupid, you pay the full hour of diag time.. Even if it takes me 30 seconds to diagnose, I'm here to make money. They were being nice if you ask me.

oh, by the way.. 1 hour of labor is $79 if any of you were wondering.

How do you figure? One either won't crank or crank over very slowly and the other cranks over at a normal speed.
