• putting car system in home possible?

first question is: is it possible to put my amp and subwoofers that i used in my car and install them in my dorm/house/apartment? im not sure if this should go here in the lounge or in the stereo/electronics section so im posting it here. the reason i want to do this is because i wrecked my car and more than likely will be getting my license suspended, so i have no need for the subs in my car anymore and dont want to sell them. also because a kid on my hall in my dorm always blasts his 10, so i think my 2 12's might shut him up lol.

i thought i saw something posted like this a long while back, but couldnt find it when i searched. question 2: if this is possible, how do i do it, hook it up to my computer and whatever else needs to be done or bought?? and how much do you think it would cost to do? im sure you have to buy something that converts 120volt outlets to 12volts or something. any ideas?

You'll need a AC->DC convertor with enough amperage to power your amp. I can't remember the formula off the top of my head, but basically for a 220 watt amplifier you'll need at least an 18 amp power supply, and IIRC those are pretty expensive.

To get audio, you could just hook it up to RCA outputs on a receiver, or I guess you could get a stereo plug splitter and mini-jack->RCA cable to split it with your normal computer speakers.
