Cavalier owners at it again...

My friend bought a four banger 99 Grand Am...she claims its got the "racing package" on it with special tires.

I drove it once and felt like I was driving a turtle.

I've driven the older Grand Am four cylinders as well, and they dont have the pickup I expected.

I would say your Firebird's faster, dude ;) .

BUT...I did test drive a black 97 Firebird with 30,000 miles on it before I bought my 99, and my 97 Intrepid had better speed than that auto did....

Nah, the Grand Am kept up with me in a race. I had one person in my car, and she had people bulging out of the doors it was so full. (2 in front, 4 in back) She also smoked a cavalier with a fart pipe that same night, I got to follow, lol. I never tried her without anyone in her car, which leads me to believe, shed prob take me. This is also the DOHC 16 Valve engine though... The others are crap.

take a look at the cars that they are "supposed" to be able to beat...they got 3.4 listed under the SLOWER cavalier section.

i think your cavy only felt faster becuz its so small when your in a small car everything seems like its goin faster then it really is, i drove my nieces and it is in no way close to v6 fody speed, shoot i had a geo tracker that felt like it was doin 65 when your doin 30 just cuz it was like a micromachine, feeling fast and being fast are two different things...and no im not flaming ya

Why do you guys even bother with this BS? You're just adding fuel to their fire. Let them think they can beat camaros, and firebirds, corvettes, vipers and all that other sh!t, that way when it comes down to a "REAL" race they now they'll get OWNED!!! Im not the fastest but the same goes to them. Oh well

Funny, can't recall any J-bod's "buzzing" at me for a race... even in my "slow" 3.4L. I admit, however that it is slow, but they still haven't tried. What's also a hoot is that a guy was saying the 93-95 6's had the 3400, which is a different engine than the 3.4L...

Jeez, I just read the posts.. a lot of BS over NOTHING. He beat a 3.4...it's believable. I guess he has an Ecotec? What do they run stock?? High 15's to low 16's? As far as mine goes, it is a 97' Z24 and I LOVE IT. It's my commuter car. Sorry guys, but if you think V6 Camaros are fast stock, you're sadly mistaken. Most cars on the road could rip stock v6 Camaros a new one...I got embarrased once with the 3.4 Camaro (I USE TO OWN) by a Grand Am from a dead stop. That's when I knew my car sucked. Our cars are too heavy. The power to weight ratio is not that great compared to a lot of compact cars. If you want "fast", do what I did, and modify the car bigtime or get a car with a bigger motor and stop arguing over the petty bullsh*t.

Seriously, if you havenot noticed, this isn't really new that cavaliers think they can take us. A lot of car guys do, and so forth. Just like how the v8 guys get mad when some of us 6cyl guys think we can take them. It's a never ending ring of who thinks who can take who. But it really doesn't matter, it doesn't make your car any lesser of a car, throw some mods on it, etc.. if your that concerned and go about your way. Then it'll only matter when it all comes down to it on the street or strip.
