• Test drove a GTO

i just got back from test driving the new GTO with a 6-speed and it was really nice. It hauled *** and felt faster than my juiced camaro. it handles really well at speed, got it up to 5th gear :D tight steering also but didnt test it out too much b/c it had just rained. Stero was really good. the trunk was a little small, only hold one big body. under the hood sites a nice and Big LS1. You could see the whole engine, not like Z28's where your view is block by the black plastic piece. the engine in stock form is fast but i can tell it has a lot of potencial.
The controls for the car are alittle wierd, the window switches where on the center console. the hood release was way out of the way. but aside from that, it is awesome. now i just need to save up for one...

already had my go-round in a GTO... too sweet! i like the way car and driver described it's exhaust, something like "james earl jones gargling and singing at the same time"

The GTO is the v8 version of the GTP to me. I'll take the GTO since i've want a GTP for awhile now.

The seats are better than my mom's Lexus Ls430. The gauges are good, spedo goes to 200mph, alittle optimistic i think. there is also a digital speedo under the main one. The plate on top of the gearshift felt a little loose.

Thanks for the report. I used to not care for the new GTO, then got the chance to check one out when my car was back at the dealer. I really like the GTO's interior, and if the 2005 gets the LS2 and some body moldings/hood, it may replace the Trans Am.

yeah it won't... its a cool car I woudl love to own one but thats like saying a Lightening will replace the Mustang, cool truck, performs but not gonna replace a stang.

only problem with the GTO, its no where near affordable

Dyno's are puttin down 296 and 299 numbers. Two I remember reading about, one auto, one 6speed.

Why take away our faster and cheaper Camaro for this bloated and more expensive car.
