  • so long fare corvette, you served me well...

....but drank too much damn gas!

I was only getting around 14mpg in the city (59k mile car, in perfect running order). Could be how I drive, but I generally doddled it around.

Anyway, when gas started to go around $2.70 a gallon with no end to the increases in sight, I had to move on. I rarely race it and it just takes up time and money for little gain (other than just being fast).

Yesterday, I took delivery of my new 2005 focus zx3 se. It is that copper color with a dark interior. With it's 2.0L duratec and five speed, it can be decently quick (for a grocery getter) when I get into it, but is very nice on the pocket book for gas when I drive it slow. 26 city/35 highway.

I think on this car I'll just do intake/exhaust/maybe header if it doesn't violate the warranty. I just want efficiency gains that give me more power AND better mileage. Nitrous might come later if I decide to run it at the track. Maybe.

    Anyone else feeling me?

Sounds bad. I kinda like the ZX3 better than the corvette overall. It is much more usable. I can comfortably fit five people in it, carry cargo, car one passenger and lots of cargo (fold the seat down), and the five speed is fun to drive.

It's not totally dog balls slow, but it lacks the power of the corvette. I guess that's the trade off though. I'll bet it will pull at least a high 15 though. That's totally peachy for this gas mileage and usefullness...doesn't have to be a 13 second car to be fun.

Those ZX3's are fun. I test drove a white one a little bit before I decided to get the Firebird. They're neat little cars and definately fast for the gas mileage, but now that I'm into the whole muscle car thing, I can't see getting away from it.
