i entered a house with justifiable causes, far from breaking and entering. Breaking and entering would be me going next door and busting out the window and dancing around naked in the house. I enter the home with concerns for the well being of my wifes mother{cough bull****}.

The only thing bad i can think of is that you took the kid with out social service intervention and/or legal guardian permission, so you could get charged with kidnapping....just watch yourself man, in my mind you did the right thing, but my mind is different than law makers/lawyers

Actually the child was released to us after the arrest were made, social services have been called and my wife is consider legal next of kin to hern sister. Her mom is looking at a good 10 years so legal rights to the child will be easily transfered, there is no father and no other guardian to take the child

No worries man, you did the right thing and I'm proud of the tough decision you made. You're a good man, something we're sorely lacking in today's society. Keep up the good work!

In that one moment you were more of a parent to that girl than she has probably EVER HAD in her entire life.

                      Good Job.

honestly, very few people have the opportunity to do something as genuinely good in this world as you have. congratulations on seizing the moment.

As everyone has already said, you did the right thing. I'm personally very impressed. As much of an evil goth as you pretend to be, you are a good-hearted man. God bless you.

Now, regarding social services and "government handouts"... in this case accepting money is NOT a handout! People like you is the reason those programs exist! You are potentially taking care of a child as a foster parent out of the goodness of your heart--if anyone deserves some foster parent cash, you do! Government aid programs are not designed for crack whores; they're designed to help those who are doing the right thing and genuinely need it. You're a hard-working taxpayer, you have NO reason to be ashamed of accepting any financial help social services will offer.

Think of it as a case of "I paid for it, dammit, I deserve it!". We're all there at some point in our lives. Heck, I got laid off two weeks ago (see other posts going on) and I even went to the state unemployment office. I've been paying into that unemployment benefit insurance system ever since I started working at age fifteen, you're damn right I deserved those weekly checks! (Almost too bad I was only unemployed two weeks... heh.)

Apply for whatever the heck you can get and use it to help that child. That's what social welfare systems are there for. Be proud you're doing the right thing.
