  • All you Grand Prix owners...

Well I'm seriously thinking about selling my Camaro. Even though I love it and will have a hard time parting ways haha. Once college gets here which will be faster than everyone thinks I'm not going to be able to drive it and even worse I won't be working so that means I won't be able to put any money into it. Which brings up another point, I really hate spedning my money on my car, even thought I can't help myself :D . I end up putting money into it and somehting happens to my car, it's just my luck.

So I've been looking around and I really like grand prix's and I don't have my mind set on a gt or nehting, just somehting I can afford. I just want something nice and somehting that I can just drive around.

So my question to all you Grand Prix guys, what do you think of them? Anything I should know about them? and any other ideas for another car would be greatly appreciated.

Weve owned a 99 gt sedan and a 2000 gtp coupe, very good cars. Quick, reliable, low low insurance and good looking. Lots of comfort features to boot. Never had any problems with both my grand prixs. I go with a coupe because they look better imo. Stay away from a se though, very cheap cheap cars.

Well, I drive a Regal GS, which is based on the same platform (W-Body) as a Grand Prix, and they seem to be nice cars. If you'd like any no B.S. info on the cars check out www.clubgp.com's forums. Try to get one with the 3800 Series II engine so it's got something that's a bit familiar (engine wise, most of the mods you can do are the same). For further techincal info on possible weak spots check out www.3800tech.com

Take one for a test drive and see what you think, that's all that matters. ;)

GP's are great cars. I had a '95 that I bought in '95 and kept it until it met its untimely end at the hands of this old drunk b*tch in 2000. I was stopped at a red light and she rear ended me doing between 60 and 70 without even trying to stop. Needless to say, her insurance company was willing to fork over some serious cash to avoid a lawsuit, and paid me about 3 times what the car was actually worth. So I went to the local dealership and bought my 'bird right off the showroom floor. But back to the point.....they are fantastic. I bought my GP with 22K on it. I put another 120K on it after that, and the only time it ever had to go to the shop outside of routine maintenance was to replace a bad starter while it was still under warranty.

If you're worried about spending money on the car after you buy it, you might want to consider something else. They make a lot of performance parts for GP's now! :D

I'm definatly happy with mine, looks nice, goes fast for cheap (I have less than $300 into mine, better times to come now that I know how to launch), handles almost as good as my Formula did. Heads Up Display is the greatest vehicle invention since the wheel. Heated seats are also great (both front seats are heated in mine).

You will end up blowing money into the grand prix as well. My friend in Charlottesville has a base model newer grand prix. He has guage pod one hell of a system and alot of performance mods. Its decently quick and it looks awesome. You can see the guage pod a mile away at night rollin up on him. I recently looked up body kits for a grand prix and i must say grand prix with a body kit looks daaaaaaamn goood.
