Way to leave high school. I left all my HS friends and got new ones... sure I still talk to them, but seriously, college is for making new ones.

Point proven. If you want to know why I moved in with friends from highschool its because I trust them not to screw me over on rent. I've lived with people I met at college glorious "friends" of a couple months. Not very dependable. Hope you come out of college with lots of friends and still not a clue.

Yep, way more then jsut going to class to get an education, though that is one of the primary reasons for going.

As for the theft thing I do agree... I ahve had parties at my place get a little too big and you get like 80 people in your apartment, bound to be people no one knows and I have had cologne, CDs, keg taps and worst a nearly full handle of Jack stolen.

As for having more then one PS2 and box, its not overkill, just happened to be more then one roomate had one and brought it to shcool. At one time we had 3 nintendos in my apartment, and 2 xbox, 1 PS2, 2 PS1, and 1 SEga. Hell 1 nintendo was a little much. Though we had lots of fun with drunken Mario 3 and duck hunt

No actually college is for learning. If I didn't want to learn I wouldn't have gone to college. I don't need to be in the middle of nowhere to make friends, get drunk and throw parties, I could have done that in my hometown.

Yep, seems like it took you 2 years to figure out college is for studying, yet of course I'm the one that doesn't study. I'm pre-med with ~ a 3.8 average so far. But seriously, it really doesn't matter, college is to learn, get good grades, but it's also having the best possible time you can while keeping those two. I go out a good 5 nights a week, drink heavily a good 4, party with the best of them... and keep my grades up. I'm getting all I can out of college, and everyone should, whether it's drinking with buddies, partying, hanging out with friends, whatever... everyone has their own deal... but college DEFINITELY isn't just for studying, it's an experience. That's why I suggest everyone moves away from their hometown to go to college... go to the other side of the states, or to another country.

I agree with that, I know I couldn't handle as much partying as skapimp suggest but I do agree its an expereince not jsut sitting in a room studying all day. You have that mindset, you get a job, then its about working hard to the grindstone, then next thing you know you are 50 and feel like you missed out on life and have a midlife crisis.

In a job you need to interact be knowledgable about much more then what you learned in books. There is more then one type of smart then jsut book smarts.

I also agree in moving away to go to college. I coudl have stayed at home and gone to school, likely had a badass car saving and extra $450-500 a month in bills, but thinking back woudl I ahve done it? Hell no, all that money wasted on rent is nothing when I compare it to the friends I made, times I have shared and expereinces I had from college.

Have I ever had a deadbeat roomate? Yep, did I learn how to deal with the situation, and get things taken care of? Yep, and happy I have those skills for the future. Did I get through it with no seriousl problems and still great friends with that girl today? Yep you bet. Partied with her and some other friends 2 weeks ago and had a blast still.

College is great, while my buddies and I were out partying my roommate had his girlfriend over. They were in the room for 3 hours. At least someone got some action tonight, the girl I'm into got too drunk and puked all over the floor outside our suite.

Cleaning up puke and carrying girls to their rooms drunk sucks, btw :(

I rather stay at home and keep my high paying job and go to a local college then to go far away. Why? Because then I can laugh at those who thought their degree would get them the job they dreamed about. Plus, I get to keep my highschool friends who are very cool. I don't like meeting people who's relationships are based on binge drinking - that's lame.

Cool dorm room though, my room is like that just on a lesser scale. Only 3 ps2's.

Oh and college is meant for networking. A degree is a piece of paper. God, I love my non boozing life. I actually have a grasp on my priorities.

To each his own; opinion that is.

If I could go back in time I would have gone to college far from home. I only stayed because I had a full academic scholarship and a relationship going 3 years strong. Now, I hate my school but I'm still dating my girlfriend. But I'm bouncing around from major to major because the one I really want isn't offered. All that will change as soon as I take a road trip to Dallas and Austin to look at UT campus this December.

I've finally realized there's more to life than what's outside your hometown.
