• Where have all the hardcore racers gone?

I notice this site is losing it's hardcore V6 people. Only James is racing, but not as often as he used too. Stephan never really picked it up. I know for a fact that most ATI charged car have done well in tracks. And our most fastest F-body, Shirl, is not doing it anymore because of her promise to her mom. Keight, Ironman24, where are they.

1DangerousV6 have came in to be a hardcore. But he's getting ragged on too much. I'm sure Pathogen will be the next big thing once she's all done and all tuned up. Nobody in the Turbo community is picking up where Shane left off. Taigo is off turboing V8's now.

Most of our hardcore have gone hardcore V8 like Magnus. Some have gone to imports. I'm never a hardcore but certainly thought about. I just want my car to be daily driven and reliable.

So other than James, there really is nobody left. Most of the new members coming in are kids who bought a second hand V6 f-body and couldn't afford a V8. But as soon as they can, they go for the V8.

So the V6 f-cars have been for the most part, a gateway for other cars like the V8 and imports.

I've been thinking about buying another V6 and droping a NO2 in it and just keep it for racing only. Or have the 89 bird and drop a 3800, hmmm I think my wife might leave me.

I have a fiance and kid.

Priorities man. I had, make that still have, a spare L36 waiting to be rebuilt. I pretty much had the money to start everything, but Camaro's don't make good family cars. I didn't have enough money to buy a family car and keep the Camaro.

Sadly enough, it is true. V6 F-body's are gateway cars. Once people get bitten with the speed bug, most people opt up for the V8. Making a V6 fast whether you want to admit it or not is very expensive, and ultimately the money you sink into it could be better spent on a V8. Nothing wrong with beefing up an L36, but it's just expensive. My build out plan was approaching $4k for known parts. I garauntee if I had started, I probably end up dumping 2-3k more than expected. You can find a low mileage LT1 or a high milage LS1 for that price. In the end, you're pushing the V6 to its limits and only a little better off then a stock V8.

If our cars came factory with some kind of forced induction. I'm sure more people would have fast as hell V6's probably keep their V6 Fbody's.

When I'm in a better job, sadly to say I'm most likely not going to get another V6.

SLP Day is in two weeks. Both Pathogen and the Virus will be racing. Kind of an end-of-season kicker.

I'm working on it. Depending on Hurricane Jeanne, I'll be at BMP sunday.

I'm down at the track about every other month since I got my V6. Much more track time than my V8 has ever seen, or will ever see. I find it much more fun and challenging to make my V6 quick.

Beating someone in a V6 is much more fun than beating someone in my V8. I rarely get messed with in my 8, a lot more will play when I'm driving the 6 which is everyday.

I'm here, but I'm in college and don't have much money to throw at the car. I'm planning on camming her. :D

Newly married, 5 month old, surgery, closing on 5 acres. I've been busy.

I WILL be "hardcore" built to go fast, but may not be to the track that often.......

Next season will be a different story.

Viper is across seas his car IS hardcore, and soon as he gets back hopefully he'll get some fully built turbo track times.

I plan on having a streetable 11 sec ride when its all said and done.

I have PLANS, but for the most part just trying to organize my life again after two years of just bad luck. Shouldn't take long, and I do have to pick up Jenn's old engine as soon as I either get my truck fixed, or get a hitch on the back of the Monte, whichever is cheaper. Right now it looks like a hitch is going to be cheaper, and the truck is becoming unavailiable to me.

I am somewhat in a dilemma on whether or not I want to put the engine into a 4th gen or a 3rd gen car. The 4th gen has a nicer, sleeker look to it, but I would have to cut into the windshield, dash, and firewall, because of clearance issues with the 4th gen. The 3rd gen doesn't look as nice, but I have no issues with clearance, and I could get one FAR cheaper than a 4th gen. The only other problem with using a 3rd gen is that my plans were for a 4th gen, so now I have to possibly scrap all that, and redo a list of things that are 3rd gen specific.

I would be hardcore if I wasn't getting ready to get married and have other priorities than buying expensive car parts.

Stefan had a post about the V6 Paradox or something along those lines a few weeks back. Very fitting post in my case and in general.

Try to think of a good reason you would give your fiancee (wife in 30 days) why you just have to have those headers! "ummm...well...ummm...I don't technically NEED them, but..."

I just get caught up with school. Being a full-time student working on two degrees, trying to find a job at the career fair, and working a jobby job ... doesn't leave tooo much time for racing. I get to play on breaks. But once the real world comes around -- i.e. after May when I graduate, I would expect more car stuff to come.

mym v6 is still turbo, just haven't done much with it lately, too much other **** going on. I still need to get more dyno results from the new turbo and go to the track again, ugh, balancing both cars is very hard lol.... no budget:(

I think when he used the word "hardcore" he was referring to cars that already run 13's and have potential to hit 12's and 11's very soon.
