To me it seems like a very funny twisted joke. Similar to when you were a kid and you opened your arms and said "I loves you this much", etc, etc.
I can see how this could be seen as a religious motivator.
Just curious how you see it.

i don't think it's a funny joke. it has a double meaning. the when-you're-a-kid "I love you this much" is one meaning. The other is that Jesus loved us so much he got crucified for it. it's not twisted at all.
The Jesus fish are a sign of christianity because back in the day you could be a different religion from the King. so they could just go around saying are you christian? The drew that symbol in the ground or in the air as a sign of what they practice. And thats easier to draw than the bread. it goes back to the fish and bread he shared and made last all night.

It dates to well back to before "kings" it was in the first years of Christianity. They would draw that symbol on the doors of christians and early worshipping places. Christianity started out as basically a secret society in the Roman empire.
