• Computadora people, going to buy a new motherboard - opinions wanted

I am going to get a new mother board I think... my computer has been acting funny and I think the mother board is dying. It will just randomly stop responding, freeze up, then I will reboot and it won't find any of my hard drives... I figure its either the motherboard or the har drive, but these symptoms seem more motherboard related to me.
Anyway.

I am looking at these 2 boards:
http://www.sharkyextreme.com/hardwar...703_3315491__2

This benchmark gives the MSI nForce board the edge for pure gaming, but the AOpen board has a CRAP LOAD of options. I especially like the
AOpen also tops the board off with a few safety features like a dual-BIOS DieHard system, a resetable fuse for keyboard and USB, CPU Over Heat and Over Current protection, and AGP Over Current Protection. The AK77-600 Max features a WinBIOS (BIOS updates through Windows) format, and comes with EzClock software to allow overclocking through a Windows environment.
HOWEVER, the site says it only has SATA RAID, and I need at least 3 spots to plug in IDE devices :(
I could always get a PCI deal to expand... granted that they aren't that much.

Now for the MSI board.. the board layout is much nicer considering hard drive position in my case and the IDE connections on the board, PLUS there are 3 of them. It doesn't have cool features like updating your BIOS through windows and whatnot, but MSI makes a very sturdy motherboard.

So which of these 2 would you guys pick? Or is there another favorite? I am only running a 333Mhz FSB so I don't really need anything super fast..

this has 2 IDE places.... and up to 8 HDD on the SATA

if you looking for intel i'm not really sure

but the biggest thing i see is that the board you posted only supports single channle memory

I would go for the MSI board in a heartbeat. Very stable boards, usually optioned well for the money you spend. My PIII has been running with a 17% OC on it's original MSI board for 4.5 years now, and it still runs very stable.

I don't need SATA and it is for an AMD 3000+

I am leaning toward the MSI board right now... but I dunno which chipset yet..

I'm running an MSI K8N NEO-FSR MB with my AMD Athlon64 3400+, runs GREAT! Even with an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, all the latest games run without a hitch. Stability is definately there, I can whole-heartedly recommend the MSI boards!

Yeah MSI has always been good to me...

I don't know if I want the KT600 chipset or nForce though :(

I highly suggest looking into a Gigabye Motherboard.

The nForce chipset's been a winner for me... just food for thought.

Agghh... nForce is better for gaming though... sigh...

via updates more because their drivers and BIOS suck... ;) I'll never trust via after working for a computer store as a tech...

Sigh... guess I will venture into the unknown and go with the nForce chipset.

I wish I had like $2000 to waste on building a top of the line computer hehe
