this guy did it right
one of my buddies works for a fairly big company
he got this email

Sent: Sunday, March 27, 2005 11:00 PM
To: ***All Service & Sales - Americas
Subject: Coming 'Out'
Importance: High

Recently, I was 'outed' by one of my customers. So I have decided to make it official. I am Gay. Why am I telling everyone? Its is because, over the past seven years people have assumed that I was straight. While mistaking me as straight, inappropriate language towards Gays, Lesbians and Transgender have been used around me. I would appreciate that such langauge not be used.
I did not include the guys name, I just thought it was funny that he sent it to the entire North American team...
I probably woulda kept it to the people that I work with directly, but whatever lol
I think that was an anger email and he is PROBABLY gonna wish he hadn't done it like that, but thats just my opinion

Most big companies are cracking down on the 'inappropriate language' anyway. Good for him. Or maybe he just lost a bet.

ouch...

as for that, a manager at my work got pissed because whenever we have "black ghetto movies" we generally up security. Either way a black manager sent out an email pissed off about this to the entire southeast operations.

Good for him. I don't go around shouting it about, but sometimes cicumstances like that affect your every day life, and there is no reasno it should. He did the right thing, methinks.

</font>
well most likely he doesn't want to hear it from his coworkers that he is gay either
obviously something is upsetting the guy about the way he is treated
most people don't send off emails like that
so everyone else has to read something in an email
he has to deal with ridicule and mocking (which this board is of course infamous for) everyday that he goes into work
if you read, he asked them to quit making the inappropriate comments
I think sexual harrassment is much worse than someone reading an email

LOL, timing is everything.

But ya, I don't really think he should be using the company email to spam everyone about it. He should have just asked the people he was dealing with to stop using the language. Oh well, it's not my business to be worrying about it anyways.

Jeez people... some of you DO NOT have common courtesy?!?!?!?!

Everyone is different... that makes us the same.

Everyone is entitled to their sexual preference.

Some of you show your maturity level.

Btw.... I am straight

Men tease other men, it's natural.
I don't care what your sexual preference is, if you're a buddy of mine I'm going to tease you If somebody doesn't like it, they can say TO MY FACE in a polite manner to stop, and I will of course stop.

Using the most INFORMAL form of communication about something soooo important to this guy shows me that he doesn't even have enough respect for himself to speak up about it. He doesn't need to be ashamed he smokes sausage, and when he gets over that he will be a lot happier.
