• Wish me luck

Yep, in a couple of hours I'm going to go out and change the spark plug wires on my '96 bird. All I'll have is some gloves and a pair of scissor jacks, as I'm 200 miles away from home. My wires have been messed up for about 8 months, but with snow and school, and the fact that I'm not going to pay billy bob $200+ to do it, I haven't gotten it done.

As my SES light's been on for the same amount of time I haven't gotten my car inspected either, even though it expired in Jan. My father finally got a letter from the DMV the other day saying if I didn't get inspected by the end of this month they would fine us $250 and I wouldn't be allowed to renew my registration.

I like my hands, but it looks like I'm gonna have to sacrifice them and the skin on my knuckles to get this done.

spark plug wires
:(

Not as bad as the plugs themselves, but a good portion of changing the plugs is getting the wires off and on.

wires: 7 on PITA meter
plugs: 10 on PITA meter

Make sure you replace one wire at a time

Wires are pretty easy, the plugs, those are another story.

You must have one hell of a grip to turn the spark plugs by hand. GOOD LUCK

lol, thanks

It took me like 3.5 hrs, but I spent most of the time cursing and yelling at the car.

I've been putting off doing this so that I could get some headers and make this a whole lot easier, but it had to be done now.

Good job on getting those spark plugs on there.

Ha, I bet you thought I was serious! I only had to do the plugs/wires on my Camaro once while I owned it, took a couple of hours to do. I was sure glad I had my Mechanix gloves for that job... :D
